She Should Have Known

Telling him in so many words that he was nothin
Noticebly scared of real love, clearly she was frontin
She said she didn't mean to do it this way
But there is no way you could accidentally leave a man on his birthday
Making him feel as though he's less than nothing,
when she told him she had already found another worth something Typing each & every message with nothing but hurt & pain
He's losing his everything with nothing at all to gain
She's leaving him and little if any of him remains He tries to convince himself that there are others more deserving,
just to sustain and maintain
But he knows he's lying to himself Placing his now cold heart on the back burner or on the bottom shelf She was never really concerned about him
Too impatient to see what would become of him
Now relationship is but a word and commitment is non-existant Evenmore so that thing called love is ever so distant
She could say she didn't know but she knew
She ripped out and minced his heart and to the garbage she threw
She jus knew what was new would lead to what was true
It wasnt long before what was new was through
And she began her hunt looking for you know who
Usually what's pretty on the outside, is on the inside bruised black & blue
She was hurt by what was new Only to realize she had left what was true
What was true is now stone cold inside
And she's hoping to catch what once was in full stride
The pain he feels he no longer tries to hide
She wants another chance to try and turn the tide But she wouldn't step to him if she saw him because of her pride
Also fearing she would be rejected & denied
It's true you never know what you've got til its gone
The same still applies when you leave and there's really nothing wrong
Only to find that you leaving was wrong all along
Now she's all alone and on her own And he's recovered and saying...
She should have known
