Good Enough

I've gazed into the darkness of my heart.
There I saw what could have been if I had
Taken that dark path.
Rich, Powerful, Feared.
It would have only cost my soul,
And the love that keeps me alive.
I fought the demons that lurked in the pit,
And won my freedom!
Freedom to choose the correct path.
It was harder, longer, and filled with challenge,
But I walked it, and I wasn't alone.
Family, friends, lovers, and teachers walked
with me hand in hand, through the trials of my life.
I'm not rich, But I'm Happy!
I'm no powerful, But I'm Wise!
I'm not feared, But I'm Respected!
All this has made me who I am.
I walk with a straight back.
I walk with a raised head.
I am me...
That's good enough!!
