Suicide Jack

 Jack wore a clowns face
to hide the lies that he’d embrace
that one pull of a trigger would erase
Did Jack do it to kill the lepers in his head?
Did he first beg them for mercy instead?
Did Jack consider the peril
when he wrapped his mouth around the barrel?
Or the people who loved him
who’d have wanted to bid him farewell?
Every day was the same
Jacks tomorrows never came
To escape the pain
Jack put a bullet through his brain
Too late to cry
Jack didn’t say goodbye
Didn’t bother leaving a note
No need to gloat
What’s done is done
Lying motionless in the morning sun
Pried of the will to fight
As his picture fades to black and white…
