Helplessly Broken

There’s a way to break
This tired cliché of loss
But I see what you’re made of
Nothing to give or take
On the wall, an inverted cross
Sewn to a nonexistent love

In life, you have a choice
To flow free or hang
It’s always been the latter
You choose to muffle the voice
Sway back and forth in the rain
The thrill of it doesn’t matter

And I wish I was blind
And I wish you could see
But these fates are unspoken
Just clichéd designs
One soul watching helplessly
At another far too broken
