NEVER SHOULD HAVE YELLED

You can change the way you feel
From when you were out of your head
But what you can’t ever take back
Are the words that you said

You will never be able to retract
The pain and rage that is caused
Even later when it dawns on you
That you maybe should have paused

Because the after effects they ripple through time
A young child grows up torn out of his mind
More boisterous and angry than ever even you
Now you’re trying to figure out exactly what to do

A family meeting, a counselor, a therapist or priest?
All you seek now is to tame the wild beast
Wondering why these teens are giving you hell
Until it dawns on you that you never should have yelled
