The Sunflower and the Moon
I need more light said the sunflower to the moon,
my leaves crave your dalliance.
I have given you all I can, dear sunflower,
you know my heart belongs to the sun
and in his light I must bask.
But surely, my moon, you can give me more,
I crave your light during these long, cold nights.
I am sorry, dear sunflower, but I cannot give you
what you ask, though be sure, I will always
look down upon you with a smile.
Thank you, my moon, as I wither away
I will take your kind words as solace,
while I languish alone in the dark.
my leaves crave your dalliance.
