Empathy in Love
Your silence is louder
than all of the screams
I have ever held back
combined.
Silence thick enough
to cover me
in heavy cold,
muffling the echoes of love.
I ache
knowing that you're aching.
Emptiness reaching 'cross country
to choke me.
I turn away
from reminders.
Awaiting your warmth.
Fearing it will never come.
Circumstances being what they are,
you being who you are,
Noble sad and lonely Prince,
you will sacrifice yourself
for peace.
My smallest wish being
that somewhere in your heart
you will find your own
in knowing
you are loved.

This was great. Keep it up and try to put more emotion into it. But other then thank wonderful piece.

Hello and welcome. More emotion... I have to admit I am a bit thrown by this comment. Then I checked you out. I think we are just of different styles, so now I feel a need to explain. Take it or leave it as you will. I believe there is something to be said for subtlety and imagination. There is plenty of emotion all throughout this piece, but it is not in your face. It reaches those it needs to reach.
If you take each part of this poem and put it in the perspective of what it may feel like for silence to cause screams inside you that can't get out, that causes cold so thick it muffles what you know is still love, and despite this to feel empathy for your friend who is too far to reach...
if not I would encourage you to read some others I have written that are less subtle, and I think you will find something that touches you.

That was completely beautiful Mel. I can not possibly speak in my normal prose for more than one reason. The, well, I, you know. Thank you. If anyone ever can not feel what you pen, then I feel sorry for them. You have always been phenomenal, not just because of our past, but you have grown to a truly Terrastrian level of poetic emotion... wink, wink
