Poetic Love

Your words fully enwrap and enfold
trickling down longing skin like lavender oil
overpowering, seducing head to toe then back

Though I want to resist, try to deny
I am lost, enchanted by each soulful line
hearing tickling whispers of love I shiver

Reason and logic try to explain, discount
but they are left bound and silenced
helplessly watching my backwards fall

Though we’re far away in miles and years
I see you clearly before teary love-struck eyes
impressionist watercolor… part real, part fantasy

Adrift in this swelling sea of emotion I bob
longing for shore, and yet to drown
reveling in this blended joy and suffering

How is it that you seduce me, undress me
leave me bared and amorous with verse
brushing my very soul with tingling sparks

The prosaic world and all its drudgery melt
in your engulfing body heat, distant but felt
leaving me pining only for your lingering touch
