Seasonal passing.
We kissed away the Summer
Lips melting into one another
While sweat condensed down your back
That I ignored as my hands
Swam through the sea
Of skin and sheets
Our moans drowned out
The sound of the house
Expanding under the rising heat
As the air conditioning cooled our hides
And we pretended
That Autumn wasn't approaching
But it was and it did
Sweat dried and lips chapped
The trees in your front yard
Turned brown as I left, and
The city lost its luster
And we discovered
Our love was no evergreen
Lips melting into one another
While sweat condensed down your back
That I ignored as my hands
Swam through the sea
Of skin and sheets
Our moans drowned out
The sound of the house
Expanding under the rising heat
As the air conditioning cooled our hides
And we pretended
That Autumn wasn't approaching
But it was and it did
Sweat dried and lips chapped
The trees in your front yard
Turned brown as I left, and
The city lost its luster
And we discovered
Our love was no evergreen
