Goodbye isn't my compromise
I'll continue to drown in you,
Because if I were away,
I'd be burned alive by loneliness.
Your laughter, your voice,
All of it makes me smile,
I feel so honored to be with you,
Even just like this, as friends.
I know my heart is fragile,
And it might be smart to say goodbye,
But I know a parting would hurt more.
This little bit of Hell I feel,
Deep in my taped together heart,
Is nothing to being away from you.
Missing you and wanting you.
I can't do that, I'd surely cry,
And then you'd worry.
So please just stay with me,
And I'll keep these feelings away,
Because they threaten our happiness,
Our friendship.
Because if I were away,
I'd be burned alive by loneliness.
Your laughter, your voice,
All of it makes me smile,
I feel so honored to be with you,
Even just like this, as friends.
I know my heart is fragile,
And it might be smart to say goodbye,
But I know a parting would hurt more.
This little bit of Hell I feel,
Deep in my taped together heart,
Is nothing to being away from you.
Missing you and wanting you.
I can't do that, I'd surely cry,
And then you'd worry.
So please just stay with me,
And I'll keep these feelings away,
Because they threaten our happiness,
Our friendship.
