Peacefully Unseen

Not seen
never really by you
skimming over
what exists underneath.

You see only skin
nothing more
ever
Who is blind and bound?

A treasure
just beyond the door
you will never open
Something beyond yet
ever present
The key too weighty for weak hands.

A spark ignites
each morning
by night
to reach full flame
Warmth and glow
for One
who would hold its gaze.

But you
extinguish with smug
judgement
anything
you don't understand
even yourself.

Don't pretend
to look into me
weaving your trap
with vile intent
for a good heart
is not
a plaything

You miss the mark
miss your chance
for something
more than flesh
Your blindness binds you
to the mediocre.

Because
that
is all
you can handle.
