Wanderer
(Entry in DUP contest)
A continuation of the past
To relive and suffer yet again
Years of torment
Lifetimes of mistakes
Yet remembering nothing
Of my accomplishments
To use in my next journey
Through this life,
As a different human being
Male, Female
Poor, Rich
Sane, Insane
No cheat notes
To help me along
To choose the correct answers
The correct paths
That will lead me to
The glory land and
Finally to a place of rest
From all this wandering and pain
A place ...

A Hell for Me
A hell for me and all that be,
Just like me or us
Not killers, not rapists
Not abusers of women and children but
Common sinners of the everyday variety
Sinners with false righteousness burning within
Filling their minds with prejudices
For all those thought to be
Inferior, judgmental or outcasts somehow
We judge indiscriminately
For the fears in our own hearts
Fear of the judgmental stares
The soft whispering and taunting laughs
We assume to be focused on us
Paranoia softly...
Just like me or us

Not abusers of women and children but

Blast From My Past
Blast from my Past
A blast from my past
To reminisce and ponder
The what ifs and
What might have beens?
The plunders of booty
Not plundered at all
In backseats too small for two
Broken hearts left in the pubescent wake
Like worn condoms
Full of selfish pride
No thoughts of their disposal
Though thankful for their wisdom
Abandoned with doubts
Of my shortcomings and their
Demons left lingering in soiled sheets
Right!
To walk the road of memories...
A blast from my past

Soul Stealers
Over run with soulless things
Of blood and cartilage and
Hollow carcasses
Walking about with dead eyes
That only see the now
Spineless back stabbing vermin
Multiplying by binary fission
Infesting the world
Eager to serve
They prostitute themselves
At their idol’s whim
No pride in anything
No thought given
To the rest of us
That toil righteously alongside
Ethics burned into our souls
Fighting for equality and
A foothold to withstand
The raging machines
That stamp their marks and ...

SPIRITUAL POEM

Life Saver
Every bone in my body aches
I want to cry but
Pride keeps my mouth shut
So I shake with fear as
Horrors race through my head
Quickening my heart
Like a fighters’ before the fight
My knees tremble and
I want to flee this place
Get away from death
As far as I can
But I, we, are trapped here
On this floating, spinning rock
Suspended in a sea of blackness
We have yet learned how to tread
Faith our only life raft
Floats ahead of us
Bobbing in our minds eye
It is always there
Though...
I want to cry but

Insomnia
(Entry in DUP contest)
The wheels begin to turn
As everyone turns out their lights
No rest for this dark entity
A spark ignites halting
The machine from winding down
Kicking it back into gear
The gears turn slowly at first but
Pick up speed as it warms up
Light bulbs flash on
Dimly then brighter
As the ideas flow into the circuit
The arms thrust forward and back
Weaving the intricate strategies and concepts
The mother board has programmed for tonight
The steam rises through the bellows
Trying...

Chains
I have carried them for years
Dragging them everywhere
Life takes me
They cut into my flesh and
Bruise my spirit
Ashamed I’ve tried to hide them
From the outside world
Successful only part of the time
Why is it now that
I have finally shed them
Do they still haunt my life?
Have I not buried them deep enough?
Have my bruises not faded completely
Or have they taken on a life of their own
And prematurely
Proclaimed my arrival

Dragging them everywhere
Life takes me

Killer
I am the cure
To what ails this world
I will do what death
Has failed to do
I will sever the cancer
That afflicts this society
The weak
The sickly
The immoral
I will send them
To their beloved maker
I will infest his golden halls
If he loves them so much
Let him suffer their demons
If humanity had severed
This pound of flesh
The rest of this decrepit body
Would not be rotting away now
I will pile them in the sun
Homage to the pagan gods
A gift from the pious ones left ...
To what ails this world
I will do what death

A Smile
A smile to hide the day
And give the proprietor some rest
A smile to soothe the beast
And rest the wolves in his head
A smile to those that belong
And save them from everything that’s wrong
A smile to turn away
The buzzards and vermin that come to prey
A smile to conquer the night
And beseech God
To make it all right

The Crossing
Show me the arrows that I must follow
But don't abandon me in this place of darkness and despair
My skin was purchased for kindling and
The only tenant was cast out
To find a new abode somewhere under the gates
Disgracefully I have no shekels and can't pay the toll
What must I do to cross this river?
The oarsman waits with open palms and
He shivers at the thought that I cannot pay
Must I wander the shore forever?
Send me a dove
Let it light my way through this dream
Give me wings that I may walk the waves into my eternal rest

Where is My Joy
Broken hearts search for their desire
Amongst the broken bodies littered in their world
Where is the angel of my life?
Why has she not come to give me joy?
Take the halo from my head
I will pay for this love
Take my tears as payment for now
Later I will shed my blood for your pleasure
Why can't I have an angel to call my own?
How can I go through this place without a companion?
What is the toll for this sunshine in my cell?
Pass me the flame and let me light the wick in my soul
Let my heart feel the warmth that I cannot...
