Out of sun's blindness
Came a guide of flicking flame
Painting light on darkness
From a harness of shame
His outstretched fingers
And toes fed mosquitoes
And typed odes to singers
And marched ides on roads
Strength became weakness
As bless became blame
Best no honour nor name
For this all seeing sun
Came a guide of flicking flame
Painting light on darkness
From a harness of shame
His outstretched fingers
And toes fed mosquitoes
And typed odes to singers
And marched ides on roads
Strength became weakness
As bless became blame
Best no honour nor name
For this all seeing sun

Oh water fills the belly
So cow can make the milk
Oh water fills the belly
So snake can make the bane
And barnyards and brothels
Bear paupers and princes
Breed babies in water
Bare children in slaughter
Wrote wholy good news
To make holy fools
Of us all
So cow can make the milk
Oh water fills the belly
So snake can make the bane
And barnyards and brothels
Bear paupers and princes
Breed babies in water
Bare children in slaughter
Wrote wholy good news
To make holy fools
Of us all

Unfolding petals
The sun reveals
the jewel of the flower
A heart of emptiness
The sun glints
Upon prayer wheels
Lightening shade
Engraved jade
Sweetness like grapes
Our world is nothing
But all our desires
The sun reveals
the jewel of the flower
A heart of emptiness
The sun glints
Upon prayer wheels
Lightening shade
Engraved jade
Sweetness like grapes
Our world is nothing

MUSEUM
Museum of dead
Peoples' things
Signifying nothing
A ceramic louhan
His ears grow not
He hears no longer
The brass feet of a dancer
Her face tilted
As if it held the answer
To a throw away line
At the end of this stanza
As things come together
Father dies of cancer
No Know
Know No
And Muse Um

TOURNIQUET
Let it be said that where her feet trod flowers grew
Tell how the spring waters of her rivers met the sea
And how her head shook merrily and fell anew
And her even passing passion made passengers see
Taught deaf to hearing and dumb new words of wonder
Praise and loving kindness her given melody
Shouting out the shutting fears of yesterday
Pulled out from the tearing of a blooded tourniquet
Of wounds waiting for the teared blindness
of broken promises spoken and failures
that fathered All that I won and loved today
For when good is wanted then...

And how her head shook merrily and fell anew
And her even passing passion made passengers see

EAGLE
Show me a crystal that is clear or a clear way worth walking
Or a forgiveness appreciated that was just given away
Or a wise word heard when foolish men are talking
Or a prize valued more than love that was not prised away.
Then show me bright lights, make up, entrance and stage exit
Show me nights we existed, entranced, dreamed of, made love,
Blue moon, rainbow, or a star fall that sheamed like a bullet
And I'll show you an eagle that found the...

CARE
His name was Hassan Gba-Kamara and he posted on my Facebook
“Don’t just love our natural resources, love and care for us too”
I scroll to a picture of a man on his back, knees up in muddy rags
In the gutter of a market street. Yes, a man. The dust flattened
Only by the morning storm. Around him stand armed guards afraid.
He is dying of ebola, a disease with a cure but his country is poor.
He is dying of ebola, without human touch, dignity or farewell.
His country gave the iron… I say gave because no fair price was given…
His country gave the iron...

BLISS
Through the dark and the granite streets and
Darker rain, I ran to the foot of Castle Peak,
Where hate filled battles were lost and won
And pipers echoed.
With child hands and rock feet, I climbed,
To slide as hoped-for-strides fell short and failed
And fingers grabbed air, in prayer, to fall or fly
As I held fast.
Held, beneath the thunderous ephemeral cloud.
Above the cloud's gloom shadow; I am cliff face,
Rock melt, rain drop, a light shard of the coming sun,
Not up nor down.
Adrenalin poised on a precipice,...

PRODIGAL
I ran into a salmon belly sun
Jumping high without a look behind me
Such a holla such spin-deemed tilted moon tunes
Screams of foxes fucking my own bukkake demons
Spewing amongst the ripped guts of dustbin bags gurning
As magenta turned to grey I lost my way and in the dark
A humble crack whistle fisting for an echo
I tripped tripping was tripped and tripled took a tumble
Falling into my self made nothing
Crawling low a creeping ground gut an obscene outshut welted
Wedded to an unseen ode to insurrection without direction
I cried like a baby...

LETHE
Born on this Earth a sentient soul, happy and free.
Not spiteful or jealous or indentured or mean,
Not some guarantee or docket that certifies I’m me.
Whole, wholly undivided, for this part, for this role
Undiminished as Sun by either dark clouds or night.
This flesh has an ether memory of far clouds, rain,
Of a fall into Lethe with but a few beads of belief
To remember by, remember by, so that all may rise.
Each plexus, a gyre, vortex, a gear, lifting upwards
Like the chain of twenty-nine locks on Devizes canal.
Unknown, un-owned, a beat of...

REVELATION
Rocks forging a hidden treasure left deep in a cave.
A crystal ball, sky dancing beneath years of polishing
To primordial condition, reflecting not casting, light not shadows
And finely lit halos lighting rainbows on candle lit tables,
Out through the windows and show gardens below.
The terma: a leaf of green oleander staccatoed in silver.
Like cocaine on gunpowder, the snow had peppered the scene.
The candle smoke on the crystal, the yin yang of heaven,
The earth of a heaven of a Bethlehem December when
You martyred your lambs of Judah so...

SCALES
Here they come
strong arms swinging twig legs from crutches
their beacon the moonlight on my safety jacket
a port of sticks and wash
the swinging bridge a cross over
razor shells cuttle scales
scales of distant nightclubs singing
A rope I hold on stiff with salt
waiting in kerosene lamp light
shark smiles pitch black white eyes spiders back
the scuttle of crab shadows across the dune
to carry my luggage over
drains of shit spilling with the tide and monsoon puddles
bellow deep and low...
