Death and Destruction
The writer talked with the man in the pin striped suit,
Sitting at the restaurant admiring the view of the city,
And as he wrote his notes he suddenly noticed,
How slow time seemed to be moving.
The writer spoke sharing his ideas,
About evolution and creation when the man intervened,
Ah, but there are stories of the first great war,
Before time began and that no one has ever seen.
It was an attempted coup… I remember that epoch,
A great army was cast down in a raging fire,
And though they were overthrown, it was only the start, ...

Old Hollywood
There is something about the era,
The appeal,
The allure,
The pure splendor and sophistication,
Like a wistful image that seems to transcend time,
Stars of the old cinema,
Who with refinement and class,
Are forever embedded in my mind.
But of all the beauties that graced the silver screen,
None compare to her who’s like a dream,
A vision of absolute perfection,
True glamour and flawless complexion,
A princess who was a queen.
Her charm,
Her natural grace,
The beautiful face that lit up a scene, ...

The Cooler King
I remember watching his movies when I was a kid,
But I fully didn’t understand them until I was a teen,
I remember his characters, that sort of epic anti-hero,
Iconic roles that must have really lit the big screen.
When I visited the streets of San Francisco,
I remembered that classic car chase scene,
I wanted to be as cool as Lt. Bullitt,
With nerves of steel in a fast machine.
Nor will I ever forget that heroic ending,
When he jumped off the cliff into the sea,
When the tides carried him off into the distance,

Tank Man
Some legends need no words ever be said,
Some speak volumes with images instead,
But there’s power behind this metaphor,
When the oppressed won’t take it anymore.
It was on June 5th, 1989,
I remember that day very well,
It was the day I turned fifteen,
And the event I'm about to tell.
In Beijing China, students protested,
Against a suppressive and brutal government,
Asking for freedom of the press, freedom of speech,
Giving the people true empowerment.

How to Spit Fire
I’m no rapper,
I’ve never been able to spit fire,
But I’m sick with this ire,
I’m tired of feeling irate,
It’s a trait that’s much less to be desired,
But I’m going to address this dead weight.
I’m sorry I’m wired that way,
But I’ve been working on my anger and languor these days,
These last few years, this past decade,
Learning to let go and forgive, yearning to peacefully live,
Being positive that everything is going to be okay.
Then I see the text and read the words and sense the sword,
Feeling the fuel that’s trying...

The Wizard
A wizard?
A warlock?
He toiled on coils
An inventor of an appliance like mad science unseen,
Frightening lightning, (have you seen this scene?)
Genius dreaming up ideas like other great minds of the time,
Hanging out with Twain and arguing Einstein,
Harnessing energy for all of mankind,
And yet for decades his name was thrown into obscurity.
He was going to give the world free electricity,
But the powers that be
Just wouldn’t have it,
Marconi got it,
And Edison, just out of habit,
Stole from him,

Thick With This...
This t h i c k n e s s…it’s a sickness that thoroughly haunts me,
With a thousand thrilling theatrics through and through,
And therewith in the pith of these themes who’d thought,
That the affable aesthetics would methodically taunt me too.
Therefore I find these thoughts so soothing and therapeutic,
Unearthing enthralling myths as if seeking a path to the truth,
Thus I must theorize, or perhaps hypothesize that going forth,
I am a thespian in the theater of the mind to my withered youth.
With every breath I slowly wreathe...

I'm Broken
I’m broken
Fractured in the place underneath the core
Where the structure of existence and foundation lie
Where the texture of abstract thought has torn
It’s the phase when faith and creed are shaken
Reveling in the freedom of what the revelation brought
Wrought ceaselessly by the eons of perilous times
When then the vain and futile plans have come to naught
It’s the sinister void of all reason and purpose
The rupture in the framework of the mind
Slivering away, slowly caving in, unreeling
Till all the unholy fears are lived...
Fractured in the place underneath the core
Where the structure of existence and foundation lie
Where the texture of abstract thought has torn
It’s the phase when faith and creed are shaken
