Poet Introduction
If it's not intimate, what's the point?......................
Reminder: Reciprocity
Talking directly
to someone
such that
the defenses
can be bypassed
takes being able
to speak
in such a way
as what is being said
is important enough
to get their attention
and yet not offensive
or in any way exclusive
of the person
being talked to.
More than that though,
the feeling
of real intimacy
needs to be predominate
in the conversation
such that
the other person
has the reciprocal feeling
of trust and trustworthiness
by virtue
of their having been real

Talk
You really can't wait until it's right.
It's gunna take up half the night
just to get the questions that you need.
By the time it's figured out
the whole thing's just about
over and you missed just being free.
I wanted to see it through,
and doing it with you
was just about the finest thing around.
When I saw you there,
I wondered if I dared
wait much longer 'for I made a sound.
You were all there was,
and my head began to buzz;
I knew that I would have to make my move.
And as I began to walk,
I could see...

Watching from Nowhere
The time she stood and waited
near the door, standing there
in her best white gown.
delicate and sheer,
hoping to catch his eye,
she stared at him,
expressionlessly
hoping for some word,
and he transfixed was looking
at her in the mirror behind
in the corner of the room
her reflection reiterated
100,000 times
and he could not hear
a word she was saying
for the sight of her.

Shadow (Blues)
I headed round the corner
just to catch my breath
along then came a boogeyman
that scared me half to death.
It was my own shadow
(my own shadow)
(my own shadow)
(my own shadow)
What really worried me
was that I could see
he could tell
and looked within
and then he said so free
You have got a day or two
before I come for you;
you have got to get it all
and I mean through and through,
everything you're thinking
every feeling that you've got
'cause when I take you, Mister,
it'll be like you were not.

The Value of a Kiss
Silently she sits
hour after hour
sipping her wine
petting the cat
watching old movies
and waiting
for late
when bed will call
and we'll roll over
for a slim
short kiss
that lasts 9 hours
until the next time
we kiss good-bye again
when she goes to work
and comes home late
and all day long
that mere 4 seconds
has to make life
worth living.

Breaking
Taking the hint
that this is it,
I head for the door
thinking that
maybe
a word more
and that then,
or I will turn,
but willful
and hurting,
I look back
in hindsight,
and how
I threw away
a good thing.

Kato Imputed
Can't see her
from here;
too far
from the edge ,
not that I have seen
the last of her
but where
she does her deft designs
a wing that strokes the air
in a breathing
all its own
is pitched above a care;
the Steampunked
stitch
where photographs
are loving her in ways
have given off
an ending for,
no epigraph
for days.
The camera's making for her
what my eye could never do
and so the fate of what I know
is less than real or true.
I tried to use this juxtaposed
or paradigmed...

Conversations
Not in a hurry
to leave our conversation,
I stayed
and sipped coffee
by myself
until the restaurant closed.
They kicked me out
and I walked alone
down the street
until I came
to a bar
and I sat
on a stool
and thought
about my drink
until closing,
and then the lights
came on
and they ushered me
out again.
I went home
and sat
in a chair
waiting
in front
of a window
and they evicted me
because I did not pay
the rent
because I got fired

On Worry
"Here"
is a perspective
that you arrived at
having left
where you were,
so,
barring going back,
the adventure ahead,
however grueling
it may seem ,
is at least
a better view
than
that lower place
you came from.

The Stuff
The fire brigade was handing out buckets
and each one filled to the brim,
and as they passed the buckets along
the word was a code to him:
"Here's the stuff that you'll be needing,
and this is the stuff you'll need;
it won't be enough,
it's filled with fluff,
so another one soon you'll need."
And as the fireman handed along
and banded in the song
and made the job go sound
they handed each one
another bucket
and that's how they got round.
The story would end
with a steamy smoke
if this were a fire...

The Ballad of Roki Moonstone
Clutched to his leather vest
was a printed picture
of an anime character
whose eyes were bladed mysteries
and whose futuristic clothing
settled all the questions
as to whether he had superpowers,
which he never needed.
Carl, now being rolled away
on a metal gurney,
was the victim
of the victimless crime
of identity theft
of oneself;
he had pretended to be
the on-line voice
of the fictitiously delicious
Roki Moonstone,
a personality whose lack
of public appearances
had driven questions
as to whether...
