Narrative
There's a whole lot of lies that go into living
The images we pass off to others
The insecurities we hide behind
Building a narrative untrue
So what would happen if we didn't

Freedom! Hangs from a tree
Noose to the wind
Branch bowed
Broken vertebrae
A vase for dead flowers

4 Children in The Stream of Consciousness
Once upon a time
There was a very cute kitty
And there was a bat
And I hope there was a little panda
But about all those animals there was something midst of them all
And the mama cat had a cute baby so she borned her with her husband then they...
And there was a tiger
I wish there was a panda
The animals had a friendly father: GOD
Then their father sent them to...

The Legacy of Jennet Device
Jennet Device breathed evil into a court room in 1612
She indulged the voices of her nine year old mind
Voices telling her to denounce her family
Her neighbors
Her bloodline
She pronounced them "witches"
Both men and women alike
A fitting accusation for King James' blood-lust for heretics
After Jennet's family were hung
Her demons threw a mental banquet
Reminiscent of the party her family had thrown

Homeless on the Corner of West Division Street Saint Cloud Minnesota
Her sign read "Homeless
Anything will help
God bless"
And she watched as I left the Caribou Coffee
Two turquoise cups in my hands
Shifting one cup to the other hand
To open my car door
Where I placed them in the holders
Buckled the seat-belt
And drove away
Into the poverty of my own life
Unable to tell her
Those coffees were a gift
From a brother-in-law
To myself and his sister
Anything will help
God bless"

To Capture the Numbness
The numbness of tiredness sinks
Imitating a slow moving headache
Happiness entirely absent
The feeling of subtle anger and irritation tugs on the emotional rope
One which grounds most humans
Sliding the eyelids across sight brings momentary relief
But without the ability to sleep
The false flag of wakefulness must be flown to deceive

Poetically Laid Using Words From A Text From My Father
(July 31st, 2014) [poetically laid using words from a text from my father]
I threw up
35 dollars of sugar solution
That could have been replaced
By a 3 dollar meal
They wanted to do a blood sugar test
But I needed to eat first
Their solution
Was to give me the sugar water
Which I was told later
That I was supposed to drink slow...
But I downed it
And then a few min. later
Tossed it

When Times Get Rough One Eats The Band
The band played three sets
Then were set upon by the crowd
Torn limb from limb
Freckle to freckle
Their instruments became plates and utensils
Chopsticks, drumsticks
Guitar backs, platters
Bass drum cylinders, soup pots
Microphones, brain mashers
It was a great feast
Pleasant and musically inspired

Freckle to freckle

Vinegar
If only

Vinegar didn't burn

Considering Concrete
Sometimes he wished he lived away from dirt
In a place of concrete
Easy to sweep
A place without dust devils
Heavy cobwebs
Or the brown droplets left behind
By wet feet or sweaty coffee mugs
He could then read the curbside cracks
Like a blind palm reader in an Appalachian cave
Predicting Apocalypses
It would suit him
Yet no one would believe
Instead he'll keep his dirt
And his dreams intact
Knowing that there is no coming back from concrete
In a place of concrete
Easy to sweep
A place without dust devils
Heavy cobwebs
Or the brown droplets left behind
By wet feet or sweaty coffee mugs
He could then read the curbside cracks
Like a blind palm reader in an Appalachian cave
Predicting Apocalypses
It would suit him
Yet no one would believe

Watching a Brown Musk Shrew Die
It crawled out from beneath the wicker cabinet
Dragging paralyzed back legs
Head shaking oddly from side to side
Upon reaching the soft half moon rug
Beneath the water filter
It stopped
Lifting it's head with great effort
As if pleading for help
A final grasp at life
Shuddering into an oddly bent rest
The house kittens sniffed it
Uninterested
While the house cats watched solemnly
No games with this one
We buried it next to the young doeum lahong
Committing its life back to the soil
And the papayas of...

The Unshaven Man
Suit jacket and no tie
He came into the bar
With full lips of kisses
A sweet talker
His lady on his arm
We expected him to order high
A knowledgeable Scotch
Or unheard of cocktail
Instead he had a lowly can of beer
Both hands full of false promises
Flaunting elegance
A casual wink to the bartender
Breasts barely covered by a black dress
She ordered white wine
Leaving pink stains on the previously clean glass
They left a perfect pair
