POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Bird
it's always one of these
perennial tuesday afternoons
when the sky boasts
an unpaintable blue
and the clouds catwalk by
in their god-faced caricatures of you
that make a bird of me
perennial tuesday afternoons
when the sky boasts
an unpaintable blue
and the clouds catwalk by
in their god-faced caricatures of you
that make a bird of me

Terror
You're just afraid is all,
that between the lines
of flapping white linens
hung to dry
a noon sun asserts a light
immune to reproach.
I see you squinting.
What you gonna do
now that black is bulletproof
and ricochets sound
all around you?
Get the bourbon
from the gun closet
and pour it on the wounds?
that between the lines
of flapping white linens
hung to dry
a noon sun asserts a light
immune to reproach.
I see you squinting.
What you gonna do
now that black is bulletproof
and ricochets sound
all around you?
Get the bourbon
from the gun closet
and pour it on the wounds?

A Widowed Muse
To be sure, you'll outlive me
you with your quinoa
and your couscous
and your mornings in the gym
mornings I'm lucky to wake
from whatever poisons I take
to wiggle the pen at night
to scribble in ink
to put a piece of you to paper
to be sure you'll outlive me.

to put a piece of you to paper
