Golden Halo
A blanket of yellow leaves
under the scrutiny of this early freeze
extends at least ten feet
where it meets
outside of my window
in a golden halo.
The colors illuminate soft yellows,
oranges, and anywhere in between
with a proud and pristine
display of sturdy brown tree
branches that break away into tiny
little limbs with brightly
stretching gold gems as far as
the middle of the cold, steadfast,
solid grey city street.
The fall’s majestic ritual
of captivating each colored jewel

Far Too Often
I wander if in that moment
of complete ecstasy of feeling
at peace and at place
within your tender arms, do
you have moments like that too,
or is it as rare, as a solar ecplipse
is to the sun? Far too often,
I hear your frustration calling it quits,
that intoxicating laughter
far from your lips.

Before My Big Mouth Got In The Way
Tonight, oh well
tonight was suppose to
be spectacular, a
romantic rendezvous with a
fancy dinner. A
small candle separating you
from me passing
flirtatious looks from our
opposite facing seats.
You sucking on delicious
strawberries dipped in
the most savory of white
chocolate. The arousal
accenting the rose color
in my cheecks,
quickened beats of my chest
to the sound
of your sweet voice.

Surrender
Her brown eyes
gently coax me in
with only hidden
glimpses to the imagination.
Her woman wiles
and teasing hips
makes my throbbing heart skip.
She has smiles to share,
but always to quick.
My mind blindly obeys
her tantalizing tricks.
My dewy thighs
quiver and ache
for her warm body
to finally let love in.

Sky Fall Disasters
Your twisted truths of
self-destruction, sickness,
and disease of the worst
deception. The make believe
world of your sky fall disasters
entwined in fibers and missed synapses.
Your depression with a side
of split personality
topped off with bipolar cherries.
All of your mistaken notions
of idealized self benevolence
and the constant narcissistic control
you have always fed us.
I’ve spent all of my life
trying to measure up to you,
protect you, damn near worship you.
Somehow while burning hateful letters,
meant for you...

Tip Toeing
Abysmal blue puddles
become unglued showering
and flooding the tiny cracks
repaired with make shift lattice
that once were coated with cement.
I lost sight of what I was doing
while the blues swirled around me,
seeping into my saturated pores
of a black dream catcher tattoo
there to softly remind me of him
and the nightmares that had me
tip toeing in the dark.

The Pact
In the corner of our kitchen
my sister and I share
among all the cobalt blue family
collectibles, tiny treasures
we favored the most
quickly taken before the house
foreclosed, stands a four foot tall
sturdy plant from our father’s funeral.
It was our choice to choose from
pretty vases filled with delicate flowers,
green plants in fancy pots,
eloquent bouquets tied in ribbon knots,
and greeting cards of yellow sorrow.
Two years watering our plant
a symbol, we won’t forget,
though there were
long periods of neglect....

Misery
The real misery in life
is that of a loss, loss
of a friend, a
possession, a
lover, even
a brother. Why
we have to suffer,
in this way,
no one can
ever really say.
The agony, fear, and
sadness consumes me.
All I have to do
is wait, but
what for? A
truce, among two
ugly things: one-
the enemy, two-
the mind changing disease,
that silences young men

Delirium Tremors
I enter room 7345
patient B, the one by
the window I look
at him...not down
for sooner rather than later
the image of my brother
will be no less
appealing with his red
cherry colored face, ash
grey inside out, purple
blue sunken chest, shaking
hands and ativan shots
delirium tremors on
top of hospital
cots with fresh white
linen tucked in at the
sides. I ask him
what he thinks
of this weather,
the rain here never
seems to stop,
how he slept
last night, and while
grinning, noting the green ...

Brown Eyed Apparition
Brown eyed apparition
gliding through insufficient
pulling, tearing strings
of inconclusiveness.
The enigma in my mind
tucked away trying
elusively to hide you
a fading light,
amnesia stained,
incinerating memory
of a half torn picture
your face, mine
the one that's missing.
Another life time
from now where we
(in whatever form
of being) might
yet again cross paths.
I'll notice you
from your smile or
maybe that rich perfume
that once drenched
my naked soul.

Deep Within Me
Me, well I’m too sensitive
and you, well you have
a recurring roughness.
Remember me?
The patient girl
with my heart in your hand
kneeling before you
with a diamond ring band.
That day on the bridge
where the water
I swear it singed
down the fountain
in a glistening stream?
You opened me up
out of my comfort
zone I was blissful
running, playing hooky
when things got to sticky.
I always wanted to stay
but I couldn’t help but clam up.
My words they decay
within the windstorm in my stomach.

Unshared decision
Praise for the way, you
were in the long moment.
Eight years steady, then
a two year cliff drop. Careful
and aware of my father's
every movement. Unshared decision
made without comprehension.
We are a family, mom, two
pieces don't make a unit.
As far as hiding the ill-
perceived notions of what's best
is best, what's meant
to be will be. Don't
disrespect. Tell me
the truth. Now give
me my ballot because
I deserve to vote. As far as
your great big schemes
and lack of attention,...
