LOVE POEM

self administered surgery
I recently went through surgery
no anesthesia
i need to feel the pain
so i could never forget
i took a scalpel to the part of me that houses my heart
blood running down my chest
my hand searching for my heart
only to find a black hole
an empty void
deep enough to swallow the whole world
I decided that instead of living life trying to fill that void,
I'd live life cold
so I took a rock and put it where my missing heart once was

my taste of toxic
we're both parallel to hell
but you say that hell is anywhere when I'm by your side
my name feels like a burden escaping your lips
your eyes feel no love for me
all you do is despise me
when i touch you,
you say you burn from the inside out
fire burning your flesh away
you say... "in a good way"
I know you like the back of my hand
but I still pretend to believe you when you say I love you
inches dividing us on this cold bed
you stare at the ceiling
as if you're waiting for it to collapse
killing both of us and our...

Words like Splinters
Do you have a tree in your backyard? Where you go and pick out the perfect fight. I thought when I let my guard down you did the same. The sun sets and my future is still unsettling
In front of me an ocean that I have traveled
But I am afraid to dive into
I look out the window of my hotel at the edge of everything I know
Stare at the unknown
The ocean is calling me
Telling me that I need to get out of my comfort zone
How am I supposed to make a difference when you can’t see my footprints on concrete?
I walk towards the mystery
Where the sun disappeared
Where I see nothing but I can feel a gravitational pull
I’m paralyzed and I look at the ocean that’s taunting...

Is this who I am ?
No wave is ever the same
Sometimes gentle & sometimes crashing onto the shore
Angry at the world
There’s a tsunami that destroys all
Rock bottom
Everything drowned in sorrows
People afraid of the water
Gotta pick up the pieces and start building a foundation again
After the storm passes, a beautiful day
The people are confused, asking if it’ll happen again
The ocean says “Is this who I am?”
Sometimes gentle & sometimes crashing onto the shore

I want you to be young, wild, but calm
I want to give it to you all
I want you to be everything I am not
Confident, forgiving, & patient
I want you to reach for the stars & not be afraid of the dark
It’s too soon to meet you
Give me a couple of years
I need to gather my thoughts, figure out this thing called life

Dying trash
Ugly thoughts i put in a trash bag
& i go on about my day
I cry the next
I grab a box & put all my feelings in it
Another dark thought & the bag it is
I froze my heart just like the glass coke in my freezer
But i forgot glass gets fragile when it meets the cold
It's been a long hard day & i need something refreshing
I go for the coke but when i open the freezer
I realize the glass has broken
& my heart sinks for no apparent reason
I cry for a minute
& i gather a cloud of bad thoughts & put it in the...

Illusions
I see a dog walking down the street but people are saying it’s a cat
My eyes wouldn’t lie to me
I know my eyes and I clearly see the dog
People are lying to me
The water looks as blue as ever
The best water to be under
But when you sink your head you can see the real ocean
The trash that ruins the purity and the great white that can end your life

The cloudy days are inevitable
The sunny days are for the beach and your friends

Cigarette Soul
You met & the spark lit
The cigarette started burning
You put it to your lips & took a drag
You got a taste of her
& now you can't get enough
On your way to work
You light one up & call her while she's getting ready
During your lunch break you ask her to eat with you
And light another one while you wait for her
You didn't realize how addictive cigarettes can be
But now you're hooked but you love the feeling
As the time passes all you do is smoke & talk to her
You spark the flame & the bedroom gets hot ...
The cigarette started burning

On your way to work

A two minute write
I'll grab my glove and my heart
Find someone to play catch with
Every time it hits the inside of the glove it'll hurt a bit because my heart is sensitive but don't tell me that because I don't realize it
But with every throw into someone's glove I get a little deeper in their heart
It gets pointless and I'm bored
I need to move on so I pull out the bat
Should I let them, or should I do it myself ?
I'm up to bat and my heart gets thrown back at me
It seems invincible but that's what I like to think
My grip is so tight and my legs are ready to...
