Detained
LSD and Pink Floyd
Anything to fill a void
After work, we leave at dark
On a road trip, we embark
Crossing the border in such haste
Without ID, citizen erased
Unsure where reality prevails
Experiencing beauty in details
Uncontrolled laughter, never known
Outside of self, as if a clone
Circling trees on tent flaps
No time at all, seems to lapse
Insane delusions of grandeur
Vivid, perfect, full of colour
Sounds of music, mesmerising
Riveting, captivating,...
Anything to fill a void

Never Satiated
Storms brewing
ache for protection
reaching for something
Compulsion arises
thirsty obsession
never quenched
Uneasiness builds
spiralling downward
reeling renewed
Lost soul again
comfort stripped
no longer intact
Excruciating, unbearable
no balance, unstable
unable to hold
Imminent darkness
escorted to hell
over and over, yet again
ache for protection
reaching for something

Truth Blindfold
Musty mold; mushrooming shadows infrared
Fire is cold; comparing fevers in my head
Empty hold; leaving messages misread
Waters scold; burning scars amid bloodshed
Voices bold; sewing echos like fine thread
Scenes unfold; warping a dark past instead
Stories told; weaving voices of the dead
Growing old; thinking phrases left unsaid
Truth Blindfold; feigning of facts as I bled

Who Will Be Gone
You fled by the time I was four
How could I have known
The affect it would assure
Now that I am grown
Not alone in your leaving
Quite a tidy sum more
Who came and left me grieving
Like a tide upon the shore
My heart exposed, on a sleeve
I always allow them to enter
Advantage lost and seeming naïve
Yet craving new adventure
With my raw and vulnerable soul
Naked, bare and unprotected
I offer up complete control
Until abandoned as expected

How could I have known

God works mystery through you
Aware when on your knees
Accesses something deep within
Shines a path when you seize
Forgotten grace from the past
You are reminded of your worth
Carries when it’s hard to bear
Clarifies your place on earth
Former students at your gate
Proving differences made
Reveals your mother at your door
Advising, life is not laid
Repairs the strength of family
Reinforced, sturdy again
Marks gratitude for...

A Cycle of Bipolarity
Hypomanic, leave me here please
Ample energy yet mind at ease
Focused, prepared, accomplishing much
Spirit elevated, an angel’s touch
Content, grateful, my source of subsistence
Enlivened swell, a vivid existence
Confident persona, creative and strong
Mania attacks, the world spinning wrong
Vision blurry, racing thoughts in my head
No stopping now, a bull seeing red
Insomnia sets in, two hours no more
Cause to continue, with vigour I soar
Disturbed obsession, unreasonable craze
Delusions of grandeur, life...

Revival
A hole in me, deep and vast
Now broken and alone
Aching, raw and exposed
Trust, I cannot condone
I feel I am but nothing
Hollow spirit turned black
Blind, afraid and beaten

Escape
Longing for freedom
Dark existence
Prison of fear
Hope's resistance
Longing for occasion
Conquer things past
Release of suffering
So long it must last
Escape the loathsome
Dissolve the scars
Elude the torment
And all that mars
Find deliverance
From that which tames
Ease all the pain
Until none remains
Avoid the betrayal
Contempt for life
Find a peace
Not plagued by strife
Expose the demons
Eliminate their taunts
Cut to escape
All that haunts ...

Cognizance
Intuitively known, the process involved.
Progression of shame, illness evolved.
Empirical cognition, numbed yet raw.
Persistently engaged, an incessant brawl.
Brutal and cruel, the enemy me.
Hostile in darkness, a constant melee.
Determined combat, futile skirmish.
Exhausted and drained, ceaseless anguish.
Madness leading to unease?
Or the drink, feeding disease?
Certainty exists, placed in between.
Embraces a solution, not previously seen.

Panic Relief
Drowning, splashing, holding breath
Concealed appearance, unknown depth
Panic stricken, silent grief
Hearing no sirens of relief
Waves of turbulence almost crushing
Adrenaline streams madly rushing
Liquid salt of the eyes, a betrayal
White flag flown, weakness’s portrayal
Slow down to drift, amid the tide
Release control, let it subside
Belief in an end, self-rescue
Breathing again, as if on cue
Head above water, tread efficiently ...
