POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
“Perhaps some day I'll crawl back home, beaten, defeated. But not as long as I can make stories out of my heartbreak, beauty out of sorrow.” ― Sylvia Plath
Guess Who's Back
They thought me dead and buried long ago
The lost girl in her white silk coffin, small
As after that, it only contains bones
I slipped away from my skeletons' thrall
To walk the secret paths alone at night
May the ghosts of Highgate whisper with me
Anybody with wisdom would take fright
But lately I've been so very lonely
For the briefest of times, I lost my words
I found them again in a stack of books
Now once again I can create new worlds
With little more than a lioness look
I long to go home to England, you see ...

As after that, it only contains bones
I slipped away from my skeletons' thrall
To walk the secret paths alone at night
May the ghosts of Highgate whisper with me
Anybody with wisdom would take fright
But lately I've been so very lonely

The Drowning Girls' Ballad
Why did you go and do that now?
Your lungs are suspended
You're another drowning girl
and your life has ended
You wanted water in your lungs
You got it, but now too
fast the liquid is rising up
and it will swallow you
Always walking between two worlds
One foot in, one foot out
Plagued all night by screaming voices
and daylight brings fresh doubt
Why did you go and do that now?
Your lungs are suspended
You're another drowning girl
and your life has ended
Step into the heart of the lake
Feel the waters'...
Your lungs are suspended
You're another drowning girl
and your life has ended
You wanted water in your lungs
You got it, but now too
fast the liquid is rising up
and it will swallow you
Always walking between two worlds
One foot in, one foot out
Plagued all night by screaming voices
and daylight brings fresh doubt
Why did you go and do that now?
Your lungs are suspended

Angels
For a little grace
Look to the angels
With wings spread like lace
And a song so gentle
The words nobody knows
Fall to us like snow
I was in the snow
And I found a little grace
Where it fell from, nobody knows
Perhaps it belongs to angels
With their song so gentle
Delicate as the finest lace
With wings born of silken lace
They soar through the sky and snow
You must be careful, gentle
With their infinite grace
They'll sing for you, the angels
A song nobody else knows
Where do they come from? Who knows?...
Look to the angels
With wings spread like lace
And a song so gentle
The words nobody knows
Fall to us like snow
I was in the snow
And I found a little grace
Where it fell from, nobody knows
Perhaps it belongs to angels

Battle Scars
Look upon your battle-scars with pride
They have weathered the darkest tides
To emerge in brilliance and light
To help you carry the weight
Do not listen to your voices
They will only tell you lies
Clap your hands over your ears
And whistle loudly until you die
They would see you fall tonight
They would do you harm
Their whispering static, full of dark magic
Their story is written on your arms
A hundred tiny silver crescents
Bitten into the skin
They will never fade away
Unless you let the others in
They have weathered the darkest tides
To emerge in brilliance and light
To help you carry the weight
Do not listen to your voices
They will only tell you lies
Clap your hands over your ears
And whistle loudly until you die
They would see you fall tonight
They would do you harm
Their whispering static, full of dark magic

Eternal
Love me until death
comes to claim my bones
Help me find direction
on this dusty road
Claim my heart for yourself
Put it in a drawer
Take it out and dust it off
Warm it to the core
My soul belongs to you
The most precious thing you own
All I know is that in your arms
I have finally come home
comes to claim my bones
Help me find direction
on this dusty road
Claim my heart for yourself
Put it in a drawer
Take it out and dust it off
Warm it to the core
My soul belongs to you
The most precious thing you own
All I know is that in your arms
I have finally come home

The Drive
Suicidal drive
Night corners
Rushing headlights
Frozen
We're burning bright
The great beyond
Awaits
My joy
Flowers
Disarray
As tires slip
Rebirth to mistakes
A monster
Reliving crimes
Inescapable body
In the road
My phone ringing
Maniacs want talk
Relics
My bitter past
Past its' prime
I admit it
I feel nothing
I'm apathetic
Plethora of molten, fickle shadows
Fake regret
Waste
Frail chances
Deathly dances
I don't know
The moon rises

Galaxtrious
My sea appears calm upon the surface
But the roiling, boiling rip-tides are nervous
And as Persephone fell into the deep
So it falls to me
To somehow tame the pluming mane of currents
To pull on tectonic plates that are sinking
To bring the land to sky and burning sun
For the first of times
An undersea explosion so bright, crazy
To think I could harness the power of god
Still I bring shipwrecks into the light of day
Seaweed and sorrow
Sleeping fish won't let me take another breath
Instead, they pour silver scales into my lungs...

Lightning
Look at the lightning
Watch how she moves
Purely for you, baby
A hurricane strikes
Her
You
Dancing for you
Like the lightning
Watch her
As, graceful, she moves
As the storm strikes
She winks at you, baby
Go on, baby
She's all for you
Thunder strikes
And the lightning
Moves
Her
Look at her
Look at her, baby
How serpentine she moves
Beckoning you
Crooked finger, lightning
Strikes
The beat strikes
Out for her
She's lightning
Crackle baby
When she looks at you...

The Ledge
How do you equate sadness?
As it slips between your skin
The sudden sense of drowning
Undesirable feelings
that suffocate you slowly
It started with a lost child
and the voices in her head
Always whining, or crying
for a scrap of attention
even while in detention
They would shout and scream
In the middle is the ward
An unfeeling place, and cold
Unfettered predators roam
She sobs into her pillow
Bites down until it's over
Then there was the other girl
who walked with feet in two worlds

Girls
Drugs speak erotically to me
of things I dare not speak out loud; moths
That flutter to the flame, into death
Names of a thousand unknown women
I toss to the breeze; easy as leaves
But I'm faithful now, I tell myself
I am the dog that licks her master
on the face only to claim him; gems
are worth little compared to his voice
Silky rustle of silver; the dark
has broken through, into his brown eyes
I love the tension, sense danger here
in two hands that linger on my throat
But is it enough? I long for blooms
Daisies on...

Seven
If I told you that when I was seven
I first experienced the desire
to spread my wings, and fly up to heaven
to bathe in the celestial fires
Would you tell me I'm just another girl?
With my crooked nose and flat white eyes
Another lost soul broken by the world
Would you weave me a scarf of pretty lies?
Keep me safe from this life, I can't take it
The grass made of neon chameleons
If there's one last swan song I'll choke on it
And the sun, burning brighter than aeons
I've always been lost, and lost I will stay

Pompeii
Imagine a small planet on fire
Two steps from the edge of the universe
Watch it now, as the flames tickle higher
Today the volcano is at her worst
Billowing smoke to clothe her dignity
Can you hear her throat bubble with laughter?
Below, a multitude of ants all flee
Others wait in their homes for the slaughter
Praying to Mars, the god of war and blood
But their cries will go out in vain today
For now here comes the fiery flood
To wash the pathos of before away
From the ashes, a wave of chaos born
Hollow statues cower against the...
