UPBEAT INSPIRATIONAL POEM

blue who
our one and only
precious life,
I'm in the warm sun, it's luxurious
on my skin, out here
in the garden, swallowing
red
wine,
times like right-now
I understand something
our colours of feeling
in oceans of being,
the inevitable impossibility
of
life,
and of this evening,
while I guess you
feel what you can too
I hope guessing is okay
but I feel bad
for people who don't feel good
we all try though, and must
there's a bit
too much sky really but
I'm keeping cool, just.

someone claims that
Alexander the Great conquered
the world while
he was wankered on very good wine
anyhow time runs
out
and takes with it
everything else
most of us
would probably desire
to switch 1 or 2 people off
right now
and then the
sun comes out, because the thing
is the now, and if
you're not dead yet,
a chance
could arrive,
falling into your mind's
eye
can you keep it,
close,
so very very close
hello,
goodbye.

to see that sound
am reading about Genghis
Khan, before that I walked
around as the
sun did its Jackson Pollock act
all over the evening sky
we're lucky
to be alive, but
at 49 most of
my time is gone now
I can see
beyond a lot of things,
or it's all
just beyond me, probably
while truth is of value of course, but
I'd rather be happy
that's beyond me too, I
mean it's funny, and the gods
may be laughing,
but it's sad as well
and life
has kicked most of the
laughter out of
me,
anyway.

today, sunday in may
I really struggle with the
idea of
a benign god,
I think there's too much
pain for that
there's the late
spring sun,
the trees and birds,
kids, parents, dogs,
here
on sunday, on the
riverbank, small
town in England
I think
my friend
must still be asleep,
but that's okay,
sleep is very very good
I'll feel a lot
better when
I see him
though
no friends is
no
chance for me
in this world
there's a lot of
stuff, most
of which I have
very
little...
idea of

my friend said if there had been
so
many school holidays when he
was a kid,
he would have gone more,
he
doesn't realize how
funny he is, it's
a pity he's not
writing this poem,
isn't it
as for me today, I'm walking
by the river,
the
sunlight is crazy
for the water,
it flashes and glitters,
and it's taking
me to
where I can go to
what else is there?
so

actually looking for China,
bit of a failure,
here
the sun dashes,
twinkles, lives
along with the river
the people been waiting
all week to live,
while
waiting to do the other thing

trying to strike a light
the universe is
more dark than it
is light, so
they say
the same seems
to me to be
true about the living
of our lives
there's a lot
of fear, and a
lot of conflict
and a lot of lies,
on a green
and a blue speeding planet,
it spins,
it's chained to the sun
I think we
can only
try to see and do
something that helps somebody,
helps ourselves,
that doesn't
add to
the hate and the wars and
the stupidity and the crimes
it makes me feel good
to think I've made
some sense of...
more dark than it

so
I'm in the garden,
across the way a
kid tries to go one way,
gets pulled the other
it's the only world we inhabit
I could grow vegetables,
if I could put
my mind to it, hell
might do me good
or it might be
another failure
my neighbour is
quieter than a mouse,
how does he eat?
at least I get
left alone, there's that
I'd rather be friends
with everybody,
or at least
the lively ones
life though -
if it was a
movie,
would anyone
be allowed to watch -
...
across the way a

sunday, it's springtime
life is always life
of some kind
what we do -
is the truth
beliefs are a
little bit different
but it can be cool
even when you've
not got too many places

you can go to

I like knees too, some people, yeah
I've never had any feeling
for flowers but
if I couldn't see trees
I don't
know if I could make it
there's something sad, wise,
exhilarating
and unknowable about
them, to my mind anyway
I hope they like me too,
at least a bit
this afternoon there's
a breeze, it
shakes
the leaves,
which is great,
I like that a lot
it's hard, to
be a human, isn't it,
and it
catches up with you,
and then
it catches up
with you a little bit more
making sense
of things is
something...

Burroughs and Bukowski never liked dusting
well, it's an association
that includes me
sunday, best day,
some sections of humanity are almost human for a day
but wars are
not called off, they still
get shot
by those who
are chosen by God
as my friend says - 'what
planet do they live
on?'
the t.v. mag said a boxer
had been
jailed for
'dog fighting'
probably not pitbulls he
was fighting, I would guess
anyway I said hi to the
guy who lives
opposite. he looked...

fucking ice cream van is loud
I'm feeding my
friend's cats, they purrrr

are best, but
all I can do

beat the pain
not got
many friends left, about one really
