POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Welcome to my world. I am MTF transgender. I am a veteran. I deal with depression, so a lot of my writing is dark. I am a singer, though I do not write these for music. I am not a master of this craft, and I appreciate feedback. Thank you for reading.
What was it?
I yelled in my sleep
Though I know not what for.
I know only now
Since they knocked on the door.
I was dreaming, it's true,
But the memory's dim.
Wonder I do
What made it so grim.
Though I know not what for.
I know only now
Since they knocked on the door.
I was dreaming, it's true,
But the memory's dim.
Wonder I do
What made it so grim.

Fallen and Gone (Not Long After Dawn)
Oh, say, did you see, not long after morning's light
When we looked to the sky as our faces turned white
On a cool Tuesday morning with sky full of blue.
A new day beginning, if only we knew.
It began with the noise of engine drones
So loud it made people put down their phones.
Sudden and frightening it came into view
A sight that threw all our logic askew.
A silver projectile that moved in slow-motion
Came in too low and caused a commotion.
Together we wondered where it was heading;
The answer is one we'd soon all...
When we looked to the sky as our faces turned white
On a cool Tuesday morning with sky full of blue.
A new day beginning, if only we knew.

I'm Still Here
I am still here
I've not gone away.
My thoughts and my brain
Have just gone astray.
The fog is still present,
But still I pursue.
The best way to make
My words all ring true.
When that task is done,
Then back I shall be
With new verses written.
I promise, you'll see.
I've not gone away.
My thoughts and my brain
Have just gone astray.
The fog is still present,
But still I pursue.
The best way to make
My words all ring true.
When that task is done,
Then back I shall be
With new verses written.
I promise, you'll see.

Why Did I Wait So Long To Love You
Verse 1
These arms of mine
Are empty my dear
Tell me the words
You’re longing to hear
I’ll say them all night
And they’ll always be true
Why did I wait so long to love you
Verse 2
Late in the evening
I see you there
You say that you’re leaving
Like you just don’t care
You’re going with him
And there’s nothing I can do
Why did I wait so long to love you
Bridge
I never wanted to hurt you
But was it really so bad
Could you forgive me for being a fool
To let you walk out that door
Verse 3
On...
These arms of mine
Are empty my dear
Tell me the words
You’re longing to hear
I’ll say them all night
And they’ll always be true

Fade Away
Verse 1:
Falling in despair
I feel my heart is broken now
I need to carry on
But I don't know how
Crying now is done
No more tears are left to shed
People tell me
It's all in my head
Pre Chorus:
But quietly I give a sigh
A final word to say goodbye
Chorus:
Fade away
There's nothing left to say
I'm tired of the feeling
That always leaves me reeling
Run away
There's no reason left to stay
This life that I am living
Just feels so unforgiving
Fade away
Verse 2:
Trying to hold on...
Falling in despair
I feel my heart is broken now
I need to carry on
But I don't know how
Crying now is done
No more tears are left to shed
People tell me
It's all in my head
Pre Chorus:
But quietly I give a sigh
A final word to say goodbye
Chorus:
Fade away
There's nothing left to say
I'm tired of the feeling
That always leaves me reeling
Run away
There's no reason left to stay

Just feels so unforgiving
Fade away

Faces
Face in the mirror with no name
Are you the one who is to blame
For all the hurt I feel inside
A hurt I cannot set aside
You bring me torment and dismay
For day upon unending day
I wish I could destroy you now
If only I could know just how
I see you and I want to cry
And away from others shy
I never want to let them know
You are the face I hate to show
Buried deep within my soul
Another face sits in this hole
The face known as my one true self
But still she sits upon the shelf
Is there someone who will me save...
Are you the one who is to blame
For all the hurt I feel inside
A hurt I cannot set aside
You bring me torment and dismay
For day upon unending day
I wish I could destroy you now
If only I could know just how

Bridge
Looking down
With a frown
30 feet up from the ground
Mind in a fog
Thick like smog
Feeling pulled down in a bog
Teary eye
As I sigh
A final word to say goodbye
Who's to say
It's not OK
To make the step and go away
So down I go
Cuz all I know
Is I have nothing left to show
With a frown
30 feet up from the ground
Mind in a fog
Thick like smog
Feeling pulled down in a bog
Teary eye
As I sigh
A final word to say goodbye

So down I go
Cuz all I know
Is I have nothing left to show

Bermuda
Sunny beaches, feet in sand
Laying back with drink in hand
Bask in glow of warm bright sun
Hear the children play and run
Family gathered all around
Feel secure, so safe and sound
Big wide smile upon the face
Never want to leave this place
World of trouble now be gone
Nevermore to be its pawn
Cold metal under the jaw
Time for one final hurrah
Hold it tight and give a squeeze
Now is time to feel at ease
Only peace, no doubt or fear
Bermuda's nice this time of year
Laying back with drink in hand
Bask in glow of warm bright sun
Hear the children play and run
Family gathered all around
Feel secure, so safe and sound
Big wide smile upon the face
Never want to leave this place
World of trouble now be gone
Nevermore to be its pawn
Cold metal under the jaw

A Soul's Secret
Staring into bright blue sky
A young Marine sits awkward and shy
In a far and distant land,
A desert full of endless sand
He knew something was not quite right
But couldn't name it, try as he might
He knew that somewhere in his core
There had to be just so much more
Know he must the certain truth
While he remained in his youth
Who to tell or who to ask
This would not be an easy task
If he speaks he knows this means
Certain doom with brother Marines
So quiet he must learn to keep
The secrets that still haunt her sleep
A young Marine sits awkward and shy
In a far and distant land,
A desert full of endless sand
He knew something was not quite right
But couldn't name it, try as he might
He knew that somewhere in his core

Towers Fallen
Towers fallen to the ground
In a quick decisive blow
Never more will they be found
Down they went with horrid sound
Right onto many down below
Towers fallen to the ground
Swirling smoke seen all around
Gone are people we all know
Never more will they be found
Many will it still astound
The gruesome, ugly horror show
Towers fallen to the ground
Images become profound
Through the haze and deadly glow
Never more will they be found
No more time to mess around
War on you we shall bestow
Towers fallen to...
In a quick decisive blow
Never more will they be found
Down they went with horrid sound
Right onto many down below

Spirit Voices
Channeling spirits in my mind
From places between space and time
You see exactly what I see
But how is still a mystery
You feel my need to self-consume,
To place myself within a tomb
So you take me deep into your womb
Inside this dark and empty room
I step inside your warm embrace
My heart beats at a rapid pace
Please let me hide my sullen face
And all my fear will you erase
People seem to know I'm there
But look at me without a care
Only now is it made aware
The spirit bonding that we share
All the love that...
From places between space and time
You see exactly what I see
But how is still a mystery
You feel my need to self-consume,
To place myself within a tomb
So you take me deep into your womb
Inside this dark and empty room
I step inside your warm embrace
My heart beats at a rapid pace
Please let me hide my sullen face
