POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Spark of Life
the sun's many sublime fingers came creeping in
prying open the blinds to our bedroom window
watching us through the slit in the curtains
solar flares bounced off the sweat on your shoulders
sending iridescent light scattering across the walls
the sun burned holes into the carpet, peering through
hoping to catch a glimpse of the spark of life
that had just taken place, hidden in the dark
prying open the blinds to our bedroom window
watching us through the slit in the curtains
solar flares bounced off the sweat on your shoulders
sending iridescent light scattering across the walls
the sun burned holes into the carpet, peering through
hoping to catch a glimpse of the spark of life
that had just taken place, hidden in the dark

Pink Pulchritude
you were the rose
I was the thorn
it was only a matter of time
before I would be removed
so you could sit in opulent vases
with your pink pulchritude
on a windowsill and languor
in the sun
I was the thorn
it was only a matter of time
before I would be removed
so you could sit in opulent vases
with your pink pulchritude
on a windowsill and languor
in the sun

Transparency
strange
it was like watching two boats float beside each other
listless;
with their transparent sails
the wind blew right though them as they passed by, neither noticing
the ghost that left a wake beside them

Untitled Love Poem V
I did not marry for money
Safe to say, our pockets have room to breathe
But the rooms in my heart are filled with treasure
With which I could retire in a love full of pleasure

With which I could retire in a love full of pleasure

Ode to the Potter
I am but a lump of clay whose shape has been transfigured,
and You the potter have dismayed at this body I've disfigured;
a broken piece of pottery, an empty vessel discarded...
but still Oh, Potter! with gracious hands, You have not yet departed.
For my final glaze has not been set, nor have I felt the kiln's hot breath.
Your hands have snatched me from the fire and saved me from eternal death.
To dust now I have been returned, mixed with water, the Potter churns...
content am I to be remade, a gift that I could never earn.
With artistic...

Disembark
the bed was an ocean
of sheets, separating
you from me
we were two islands
only an isthmus apart
I could reach my hand out
and touch you
if only you chose to stay
and not disembark
of sheets, separating
you from me
we were two islands
only an isthmus apart
I could reach my hand out
and touch you
if only you chose to stay
and not disembark

Untitled Love Poem IV
In my weakness,
no thanks to my knees
or these high heels
I have succumbed to you.
Possessed by admiration
and a desire to be held,
I lost my balance and fell
straight into your arms;
an embrace that felt
just as comforting
as it was consuming.
You caught me by the mouth
and bade me not to fall.
But I did.
Hard.
no thanks to my knees
or these high heels
I have succumbed to you.
Possessed by admiration
and a desire to be held,
I lost my balance and fell
straight into your arms;
an embrace that felt
just as comforting
as it was consuming.
You caught me by the mouth
and bade me not to fall.
But I did.
Hard.

Ephemeral Dreams
I slip my fingers in between the seams
and pull the thread where the sea meets the sky
The fabric of reality opens
A curtain of lost ephemeral dreams
Drifting unaware of their potential
Shooting stars, forgotten, in the abyss
I sail into a sea of broken glass
A prism of memories left behind
Luminescent treasures lighting the way
To a cave of magnificent wonders
There, I find my heart's desires
hidden away
and pull the thread where the sea meets the sky
The fabric of reality opens
A curtain of lost ephemeral dreams
Drifting unaware of their potential
Shooting stars, forgotten, in the abyss
I sail into a sea of broken glass
A prism of memories left behind
Luminescent treasures lighting the way
To a cave of magnificent wonders
There, I find my heart's desires
hidden away

Love isn't a Geocache
Love isn't a geocache.
It's not hiding
under a park bench
or inside a mailbox on a mountain
It doesn't shoot you with a bow and arrow
or grant your wishes
from a fountain.
There are no fairy god mothers
or princes
riding in on white horses.
It's not in the self-help section
at the book store,
or God-forbid the library
between the pages of denial
and self-sabotage.
or on wikepedia
written by anonymous sources.
It's not in the stars,
even shooting ones
traveling between venus and mars ...

The Curator
I curate death for the living
in a mausoleum of hope
I am a nurse - clandestine
I am despondency with a smile
I've broken more ribs than I've fixed
like twigs snapping in your hands,
my palms crunch bones
like snow beneath your feet
the dead and I wear the same expression
under a white shroud
our emotions lie buried
beneath the surface
hidden behind layers of minerals
and foundation
I embalm my mind for self preservation
vignettes plaster the rooms
clinging to the walls
proxy living through the past ...
