Your Loss
It is like a huge part of me left when you were
On your way out the door. I know I could have
Asked you to stay just for one more second, but
It would have been selfish. My hazy and blurry
Vision prevented me from fixing the main valve
Heading right to my heart. I would always shut
Off in the hopes of letting my big heart fully heal.
I thought I was really ready for your sudden loss,
But my head and heart were not fully prepared
For your quick departure. What I wanted to feel
Was different than all the sunshine and the gloss ...

When My Faith Was Shaken
It was when I looked love in the eye, but
I could not put my heart in it one hundred
Percent anymore. Love can put me in a rut
I could never get out of. It has plundered
Me and left me empty like a house with no
Foundation. I lost that faith when I walked
Away from one person I wanted to grow
Old with for eternity. I thought and talked
About him as if he was still here with me
Now. I lost that faith when I was going to
Lose a friendship I built from scratch. He
Could never see past...

I Am Her
On most days she is fire and rain.
Some days she is crazy or insane,
But every day she is kind and
She is giving out a helping hand
To those who need it the most.
She has California and west coast
Blood running through her system,
Never letting any big or small stem
Cuts ruin her chances of living her
Happy and fulfilling life. Tears blur
Their vision, but hers is crystal clear
And bright. She and I have no fear.

Do what you feel is right in your heart,
Not for approval or applause. It is like
Coming to a fork in middle of the road.
Sometimes you are the one who starts

Sometimes we get lost in the throng
Of the people heading in the wrong
Direction we forget to turn and look
In the right direction too. We mistook
The values that we weigh in our hand
For what we are meant to understand
As we are ridding of morals preplanned.

When We Need Love More
The world can be messy and downright ugly,
But that is why love matters more. The world
Can be hateful and despiteful, but that is why
Love matters more. The big world hides snugly
In its odd corners, but that is why love unfurled
Itself to show its true colors. We are afraid to pry
The truth out from its shell, but we should raise
Our voices, speaking for the vulnerable and those
Who have never been shown love. We speak for
Those undervalued. Love is like a bright blaze
That shines during the dark times. Love shows ...

Give It All to You
I would have given my last dying breath to you
If it means you and our love can last infinitely.
I wish the world could see it as something more
Than naïve or foolish. As the sky goes from blue
To black, I would give you the stars as the intimacy
Between us flows so easily. As you open the door
To your heart I would do anything to ease the pain
And fear I see etched there in your soul. Like a strike
Of lightning, our love is like fate standing eye to eye.
I would stand in the middle of the street as the rain
Comes...

Heartbreak Like No Other
A heart breaks like something made of glass
And shatters all over the floor that I worked
Hard to clean, but no one is noticing the mass
Or clumps forming in my bloodstream. I perked
Up at the idea of love despite the heartbreak I
Anticipated from many miles down the road
And for you I was willing to come eye to eye
With the fear of falling deep in love. I showed
You my hand time and time again, despite not
Knowing where we were heading. I was riding
Along with the true heartbreak, despite the knot
In my aching chest and it...

Dream of a (Perfect) Future
I dreamed about you and me getting back
Together, but this time it was perfect. I did
Not tell you, fearing it can get me off track
Again and lose focus on the now. I got rid
Of the notion that everything can ever be
And will be perfect again like it was when
We began. I dreamed of walking to the sea
As I see you standing there with a big grin
And smile just for me as the gentle motion

Distant and far away memories. I shoved
Everything aside, hoping I can forget you

Risk of Falling In Love
The biggest risk is to
Fall in love with someone
But they cannot catch you.
You cannot control the sun
