POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I find it ironic that I consider myself to be a writer, yet I can't find the right words to introduce myself.
Til death do us part
You hear my sobs from the other side of the bathroom door
You press your calloused hands against this door you built, wondering if you could do more
I'll bet you wonder how we got here and why
Being once so in love and alive
In defeat, you sink down to the floor
I find it somewhat comforting as I can see your shadow beneath the door
I never thought we could feel so unbound
And you never thought you would have to worry about your feet no longer touching the ground
Still, I cry into a towel, hoping to...

Don't You Remember?
I rest my weary head against the wall
It is too firm
Not comforting at all
“How did I get here?” I think to myself
“You know how you got here,” a voice answers
A voice all too familiar
“Go away,” I spit
And I’m nearly certain that I mean it
“You are the reason why”
I stare at the wall
It’s all the same texture and color
The floor, the ceiling, the door
“Now, you know that to be untrue”
A calm whisper
“Why are you here? Why have you followed...

The Cotton Dress
I hold her hand, warm in mine
Maybe even too tightly
Do I clasp her hands
I trace her delicate fingers
I trace the outline of her floral, cotton dress
It feels soft
It is my favorite
She laughs, a feminine sound
A girlish giggle
I smile as I ponder the way
The setting sun hits her face
Her beautiful face
Her eyes remind me of pools of honey
Golden and warm
She has leaves intertwined in her hair
As she lies in the long, forlorn...
Maybe even too tightly
Do I clasp her hands
I trace her delicate fingers
I trace the outline of her floral, cotton dress
It feels soft
It is my favorite
She laughs, a feminine sound
A girlish giggle
I smile as I ponder the way
The setting sun hits her face
Her beautiful face
Her eyes remind me of pools of honey
Golden and warm
She has leaves intertwined in her hair
As she lies in the long, forlorn...
