Morning Marathons
Surf the waves until the waters settle
Don't blow your top like a steaming kettle
Life'll beat you up and keep you on trial
Judge and jury incarcerating your smile
Traveling for miles on roads of tribulations
Starts erecting dark thoughts full of ideations
Depression's a beast bearing a pitch fork & horns
Genetically afflicting some entities when their born
Worn like scarlet letters that folks'll never be able to see
Branded onto psyches like we've joined Greek fraternities
Stepping on happy emotions like it's dancing to...

I Gave U Life
I gave you life when I implanted my seed
But you only know me when you have a need
I concede with trying to show you the light
I've accepted that it's another futile fight
I'm sure your mother delights in destroying our bond
You're the only thing she has of which I am fond
She's the conduit for the bullshit that has manifest
Yet, class is still in session; will you pass the test?
I've rest my case and will no longer plead
Jury's out as I wait for what the verdict'll be
You'll have to make me a priority instead of a convenient...
But you only know me when you have a need
I concede with trying to show you the light

For Better Or Worse
I'm trying to love you through your hurt
Trying to love you through your pain
Trying to sustain through your anxiety
While trying my best to remain sane
I'm trying to love you with empathy
I'm trying to be your ride or die
It's causing a strain on me mentally
And physically; I can't even lie
I spy, with my third eye, real, true love
I try to give it to you unconditionally
And continually try to fly as high as a dove
I'm transparently conveying this poetically
Trying to love you through your pain
Trying to sustain through your anxiety
While trying my best to remain sane
I'm trying to love you with empathy
I'm trying to be your ride or die

Scarred Bark Part II
Admiring the trees with colorful leaves
That're falling from high as they grieve
Leaving some trees barrenly undressed
That just can't handle constant duress
Stress from storms got 'em torn & battered
Beginning to lean like a rose that's withered
Tethered to pain of epigenetic proportions
Trying to stay sane after late term abortions
They gotta use caution when standing tall in fields
Executioners are lurking while out carrying steels
Making it harder to heal as bark's peeled everyday
When roots are uprooted,...

Monopoly Of Life
Staying focused on the past
Means never passing GO
2 hundred dollars won't last
If one proceeds that slow
The money only flows
After we throw the dice
Sometimes it'll grow
Other times it'll slice
Like mice on wheels
To heal, we gotta move
At times, the journey's uphill
Yet we still must groove
It behooves of us all
To keep moving & grooving
Gotta stand up tall
Or fall to expiring
Means never passing GO

I'm damaged
My cracks are sealed
Aesthetically pleasing
Underneath unhealed
I spill my ink
Using creativity
To reveal my truth
In the form of poetry
Medicinally abusing
This drug of choice
Arranging these words
As my eternal voice
Pain courses my veins
Yet you'd never know

Asking Why (Can't I) Shouldn't Eye
Even GOD's son questioned him as to why
Have you forsaken me as I'm about to die?
But you say that I should never question GOD?
How can I not while living in the swamplands of Sod?
Life's so hard and it's not getting any easier
We gotta ask questions for us to get any wiser
Are you a miser of the knowledge that I seek?
Do you believe this'll be inherited by the meek?
Pardon me, but that sounds weak as HELL
You're desiring for me to believe in fairytales
Let's keep it real; only the strong survive
We gotta take a stand in...

LIFE PRESERVER
Drowning in the depths of responsibilities
This is the feeling of caregivers just like me
Providing for family, friends, and many others
Is exhausting and taxing is what you'll discover
Desiring to go undercover just to get respite
Cause many of days we can't find any of it
Hit with excrement morning, noon and night
Makes you discontent and wanting to take flight
But the might of your love keeps those gloves up
Even when you're pouring from an empty cup
Like buttercups sucking it up during stormy weather
The rain...

Clouds Of Tears
Seemingly enveloped by the shadow of death
Bodies after bodies dropping right and left
What's left over the cliff of constant subtraction?
What's next in step as the coming attraction?
When fractions of your heart keep chipping away
Your mind starts wandering and losing its way
Everyday one has to say their final goodbye
As tears start raining down like clouds in the sky
From sore eyes that have seen way too much
Who're limping and looking for a crutch
It's such a hard pill for one to have to swallow
Knowing friend...

Boxcars & Snake Eyes
Have you ever watched a loved one wrenching in pain?
Have you witnessed this site through your soul's window panes?
Have you had to maintain while feeling powerless?
Have you endured the unimaginable and remained feeling blessed?
Have your faith been tested to where you no longer pray?
Did it begin to dwindle when your Granny passed away?
Do some days seem futile cause you have no control?
Do you throw the dice anyway to see which way that they roll?
Have you witnessed this site through your soul's window panes?
Have you had to maintain while feeling powerless?
Have you endured the unimaginable and remained feeling blessed?

Day-Day Bomaye
Venturing through flames
Trying not to get scorched
Gotta remain in the game
Won't abstain on the porch
Staying sane's a mighty feat
On repeat are these trials
Gotta march on to the beat
Evading defeat with a smile
Countering & parrying blows
Lord knows I'm exhausted
Persevering on my toes
Strength being siphoned & accosted
Encouraged by my corner
Bomaye's what they're chanting
Until the final round is over
This Soldier'll keep on swinging
Aiming & shooting center mass...
