POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I've been a journalist and (unpublished) novelist, but writing poetry is a relatively new experience . I'd like to make some friends and get advice and feedback.
Belle Fire
Driving back from New Orleans
Taking turns behind the wheel
"Copperhead Road" on the radio
And gators grinning just off the asphalt
But Mississippi's waiting patiently
The old manse and southern hospitality
All the comforts of her bed, and breakfast
That warmth beckoning just ahead
Yet there's a shadow sweeping off the porch
A resultant panic in my Scarlet's eyes
A violent turn to her steering
Her look becoming one of a trapped rat
She sees fire rising from the rear fields
And feels it catching in her hair
All I can do is...

Here Lies
Conceiver of pain
Breeder of sorrow
No grave shall contain
Shall return on the morrow...
The name engraved therein is my own
Memento mori. An echo in stone.

Parboiled
Perfect score, connect the dots
Random Bob can call the shots
Picks up Mary Honeythighs
So his betrayal comes as no surprise
Cup of joe, just make it noir
Add some luster to this scar
That psycho couple's tough to shake
And this private dick can't catch a break
So Los Angles down we go
Get there fast and cook them slow
Too many sorrows left to drown
So suck it up and blow this town.

Dracula: The Opera
Mist rising from the twilit ground
Awake, my children of the night
The sun has retreated and the lost are found
And darkness encourages our sight
I rejoice in this perfect hour
As remnants of sleep fall away
I thrill in this surge of power
Still growing with the death of day
We're emerging in a barren land
The landscape long curse with terror
The righteous will no longer take a stand
Their resolve has vanished in the air
My spirit will learn to dip and soar
Set sail beneath the stars above
I will step proudly on a foreign...

Following the manual:
Your slender fingers grasp lightly
Followed by a slow caress
Gathering momentum and pressure
Pick up speed, if you will
Those fingers finally a blur
Then that soft explosion
Liquidating the nearest breast
Yours is the truest dexterity
And mine, arguably, the perfect climax
My gratitude...

The Pearl: Volume Two
Her lips display a pearl
At long last they part
And he catches it on his tongue
Unlocking untold pleasures
Allowing the easement of suffering
And, perhaps, a bit of gratitude
There's his own condition to consider...

The Pearl
She arrives highly recommended
Pierced in all the right places
A pearl on her tongue
Administered slowly and precisely
From base to smiling tip
Just a tease, sweetheart,
The best is yet to come.

Bleat
Sheepish smile, not quite shorn
The daybreak shepherd sharpening up
Says "Lookin' pretty matted, maestro.
A little off the top?"
"No sir, no sir, three bags full!"
So naked in the meadow
Turning pink in the morning sun.

absurd
Pro bowlers in the alley
Smoking crack cocaine
Starlets roam the valley
Then end up down the drain
Just can't seem to find
The point to all this word
Say it's no never mind
It all seems so absurd.

The Best Intentions
"Only the best intentions"
He says with his second face
The words tripping adroitly off his tongue
But catch a whiff of something rancid
Notice the shimmer of the cesspool behind him
His shadow wading in for a dip
Tough to ignore, but turn away
And notify the proper authority.

Ashes
Ashes in an urn
Scattered towards the sea
The wind began to turn
And the ashes covered me
I could see the joke
No reason not to smile
My love went up in smoke
And then stuck around awhile.
