POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
My anger, like a shield, must be penetrated to see the real me unless I am only more of the same...
distance
a separate entity
comfortable alone
seeking no identity
an empty vicinity
no foreign light shone
solitaire ability

I in the deepest empty see
no need for sypm or empathy
no reason for re or interaction
from my distrust you're of no distraction
our separate lives are a matter of faction

the world is really turning
that we're wrong, we keep learning
but ignorant's torch is still burning
zeus and apollo have both said goodbye
too hard to swallow but your god's in the sky
we out grow santa and the easter bunny
we can't beat religion it's about control and money
he put us here, he isn't there
we disagree, we better start to care
condemned, converted, killed
in his one name or another
quasi-righteous rivers spilled
for the sake of the father slaughter your brother

blinded or broken
for freedom they've spoken
now mocked by the stairs
in walkers or wheelchairs
good times and glories
brighten their stories
of strength and of courage they all deserve telling
but most are here for the pain and the swelling
thousands of saviors just trying not to die
even the devil, a tear in her eye
not in this country there should be no why
their health care is a wreck
it's time for our hands on their deck
we the people
squeezing
the government's neck
for freedom they've spoken
now mocked by the stairs
in walkers or wheelchairs

born doomed
soul is
groomed
then consumed
die as
planned
their machine
you manned
flames of change
need fanned

these words can't be mine
they sound from a mind
that's health is not fine
they're full of help
and hope
and sorrow and rope
it's hard to tell
if the writer can or can't
cope
does he need prosac
or just a fat sack
of dope
maybe i should try it
i wish the voices would
quiet
one says i should feast
one says i should daint
one says you're a saint, you filthy beast
they sound from a mind
that's health is not fine
they're full of help

who's to say
who knows the way
who chose today
who's will is to stay
who'll keep temptation away
who's opinion won't sway
who's moment can't delay
it's me
hooray
who knows the way

mine
i despise
my own tears
i disguise
my own fears
i reprise
my own years
my own heart
disapears
my own future
clears
my own end
nears
my own tears
i disguise
my own fears
i reprise

i want to see faces
with no traces
of the places
their from
you're from here
i'm from there
this isn't fair
it's dumb
my castle is tall
your portion is small
get against the wall
you bum
we shouldn't use pigment
to lable indignant
our souls get malignant
and numb
if we could build paradise
it would have to be nice
don't even think twice
just come
violence will stall
predjudice will fall
there will be justice for all

green
the moon, the skies
these distant things, that have our eyes
we should adjust, our gaze
end our unjust. ways
limited, are our final days
look around, focus down
or in the earth's wrath, we will drown
technology proud
egotistic and loud
our nature, to over-crowd
toxic pollution
no action towards solution
the food chain needs, a new revolution
for all these years, earth met life's every need
but it can't keep up, with human greed
we'll graze it down, to the very last seed

I paused for a moment to let my eyes adjust to the dim as I closed the flimsy windowless door behind me. I had never been here in the day and my favorite little bar seemed smaller this time.
Empty, best described the place, just one middle aged guy with a pitcher of beer adorned the dozen ragged circles of vinyl. “Bud Light.” I said just before the bartender could ask me. I sat down at the bar and the other patron gave me a quick nod and poured himself another.
Gulp, gulp, ah. My first beer was spent like a first paycheck. I didn't bother to set the glass down. I just...
