POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
My Love, my love
With thee, i've found my heart may stay,
Through fleeting dusk and break of day.
Thy heart, be near, belongs to me here,
And guides my own in every way.
Four years we've known, yet in the past,
Still hold us firm, though years be vast.
No, not one old hour, can time overpower,
For thou art mine from first to last.
When tempests rise, as God has willed,
Thy whisper, a balm, bids all be stilled.
Within your grace, I rest in this place,
And with thee, all my needs fulfilled.
Oh, Lauren dear, by fate entwined, ...

Nicotine
The hush it drapes upon a weary mind
It calms the storms that swirl behind each thought,
If only I remain within this time,
The hush it drapes upon a weary mind
The taste of night exhales the broken day
With each and every promise, sighs relent,
In dimmest pause, a fragile silence stay,
The taste of night exhales the broken day
We float along the hush that drifts between
Where haunted sorrows never weigh our breath,
The spirits always present, seldom seen,
We float along the hush that drifts between
It calms the storms that swirl behind each thought,
If only I remain within this time,
The hush it drapes upon a weary mind
The taste of night exhales the broken day
With each and every promise, sighs relent,
In dimmest pause, a fragile silence stay,
The taste of night exhales the broken day
We float along the hush that drifts between
Where haunted sorrows never weigh our breath,
The spirits always present, seldom seen,
We float along the hush that drifts between

Washing Machines
I saw you, in secret.
In my head we are in glad rags,
And holding hands.
The green on the knees of your skinny jeans,
Faded in the washing machine,
Me from your memory.
I cut down our oak tree by the bayou.
It was too big to fit in the trunk of my car,
So I fed it to the river.
I’m stuck in that afternoon,
When I yelled out goodbye,
But you were too far to hear me.
I’m the same now, but,
I burn my stained clothes now,
Because I'm fucking terrified-
Of washing machines.
In my head we are in glad rags,
And holding hands.
The green on the knees of your skinny jeans,
Faded in the washing machine,
Me from your memory.
I cut down our oak tree by the bayou.
It was too big to fit in the trunk of my car,
So I fed it to the river.
I’m stuck in that afternoon,
When I yelled out goodbye,
But you were too far to hear me.
I’m the same now, but,
I burn my stained clothes now,
Because I'm fucking terrified-
Of washing machines.

Palimpsest
Echoes of old stone-
Blood, quills, the stars all entwine.
A child's voice ascends.
Blood, quills, the stars all entwine.
A child's voice ascends.

Prize Bird
Well, good morning, Tweety Bird,
Such a pleasant surprise,
With your mother's sharp wit,
And, lo, myself in those eyes.
How I've loved your sweet song,
Both the coos and the cries,
For the year it has been,
As the time swiftly flies.
In the contest I've invented,
Among fathers worldwide,
I've won loveliest daughter,
But you are my prize.
Such a pleasant surprise,
With your mother's sharp wit,
And, lo, myself in those eyes.
How I've loved your sweet song,
Both the coos and the cries,
For the year it has been,
As the time swiftly flies.
In the contest I've invented,
Among fathers worldwide,
I've won loveliest daughter,
But you are my prize.
