POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
The Pearl
Was just one submerged creature
The stolen possession
Of a human race
But It never failed to grasp
Your attention
It is, to me
A single iridescent flash
In the timely events
Of all things
Twist it once
Twist it twice
More than once you may realise
It’s a diamond
The stolen possession
Of a human race
But It never failed to grasp
Your attention
It is, to me
A single iridescent flash
In the timely events
Of all things
Twist it once
Twist it twice
More than once you may realise
It’s a diamond

The Trophy
Is this mangled heap on my bedroom floor, a slippery
Rank gold in the morning sun. I tiptoe
Carefully, avoiding the washy light it splits onto the floorboards,
Triangles of my imperfection,
Avoiding the dark letters that carve my being
Into someone I’d rather not be.

Carefully, avoiding the washy light it splits onto the floorboards,
Triangles of my imperfection,
Avoiding the dark letters that carve my being
Into someone I’d rather not be.

Hail! Bright Cecilia - part 2
You embody all that is falsified
The dead of winter I may find solace knowing what you had done for me I freeze but to know you
you
you on
that solid fragment of time wait; but what are you waiting for? It was you all along was it not something I had wanted feared revelled being your creature
Am I your creature do I bow to you
In the heavens angels call frightening songs of praise they say you were the one
the one
Who to the feasts of fowl the lords of gore and wretch you made you made them new
With your songs and music of love and kindness and...

Hail! Bright Cecilia - part 1
I knew a woman three days ago
But they knew her a second more.
How intense, the flame
Burns
Up her match till the end,
So close in sight is joy consumed
And sparked by fright
Squinting, the heat
Ignited us it was no use,
We could not escape
Gold
Bathed our feet
And burnt our souls
Petrified
Now we kneel
Before this pure goddess
Wrapped in silk and secret fears
Encased in maple and screaming tears
But they knew her a second more.
How intense, the flame
Burns
Up her match till the end,
So close in sight is joy consumed
And sparked by fright

if i had wings
i wouldn’t ask you to stay
because i’d know what it was like to
fly away
because i’d know what it was like to
fly away

Poem-a-day
I'll write a poem day for the rest of my time if it means that
I'll hear a word back from you;
I'll know all the ways you could stumble and slide-
I'll be waiting as though
I'll get through to you
I'll hear a word back from you;
I'll know all the ways you could stumble and slide-
I'll be waiting as though
I'll get through to you

Scylla and Charybdis
The fingers sliding across the desk are a different colour
Different length and width so soft, so unlike mine
Yet unbearably identical-
Blood pulsing under your skin I see it sweet red
There’s a clock that lies heavy in my heart here
It keeps falling ticking down the slope, will it echo,
Explode- (Hopefully fly me across the chasm)
Would you have noticed?
Will they notice?
You know I couldn’t jump the distance
But it was either that or to remain in this furious
Time-lapse- free-falling-
Then sink into the obscure absence of...

whereareyou
The dreams I have start
As a bud
Which grows to a leaf
Then a vine, thick
And charming like the cobra,
Come take my ear
Or mouth or heart or even
My song
As a bud
Which grows to a leaf
Then a vine, thick
And charming like the cobra,
Come take my ear
Or mouth or heart or even
My song

I may have learnt a thing or two-
There is no
Time to stay,
The days are short.
We need to keep
Something to live for.
All things good
Come to an
End. I see his
Eyes, they still keep
All the world aflame.
Love is hard
To find, life
Is hard to keep.
O wretched world-
Guide this wanderer!
Where he
May go, I will
Not know, no seed
I plant will help
Him grow.
This pain is
Deep, yet he
Is lost- through
Eyes of man
He cannot sleep.
O help him.
That he had
Not seen what I
Had known, O help...

Now
If only I had the power,
The one where i could reverse time-
I would go back to the start.
There would be no confession
I would change my impression
On you.
The night was cold under our hearts
When we walked; jazz music trailing our footsteps.
The stars overhead whispered
Of all my words delivered
To you.
When we lied under the stars you washed away my fears
With the stories you told me to keep me safe and near-
Not far away from you
Is where I stay from you
Now.

The place
In which I’ve
Grown will fall
With the coming
Of first light
And fade
Away
In which I’ve
Grown will fall
With the coming
Of first light
And fade
Away

DayFourteen
A gentle hum carries him.
We soar over broken landscapes,
Skeletal fingers blackened and scorched-
The ground retains its worth
To spend in another lifetime.
Lonely breeze speaks to us
Nomadical arms tender,
Ignite flame from pulsing embers
And as life and death intertwine.
Calm,my friend,
Look for a place to settle-
Lie your soul to rest.
I can see there is a
Little yellow flower I picked
Not long ago-
Jammed between the car
And the dash cover,
Its thin spiky stem turned brown
Stiff and broken ...
