I Have No Idea What I Am Doing!
What say you?
WIzards of lyric and rhyme
Rendered speechless
Out words and out of time
Any sage wisdom
O keepers of broken hearts
Thoughtless ideals
Strung together fall apart
Old man in your chair
Ripe with experience and observation
Haven't you any clue
To navigate through this desolation
Seek and ye shall find
As the old adage surely goes
Target in sight goal in mind
Path taken to reach no one knows
Answered questions deny adventure
Suffer through the searching
Stumble...

Sub-Cranial Theater
Slip inside the space between two ears
Behold the menagerie of half thoughts and partial dreams
Avoid the cyclonic gusts that set all things in disarray
There is quite a pace in here
The same old fading memories play out on screen
Pictures are fuzzy and tinged while the soundtrack bellows with distorted pops
Slowly degrading until the day the screen falls black
And silence fills the hall
Beware the lofty goals, for they are many
Fleeting ideals that have the staying power of snowmen built in June

Addicted to Lingering Toxicity
How long must I endure you?
Your chemicals have long left my veins
Yet in the mind you are ever present
Invading my thoughts and darkening my skies
How much longer until hope finally dies?
Your hurricane laid waste to the lowlands
Uprooting all I had ever known
Deadly winds carried off debris of my soul
Pieces of me scattered to the hills
Spread too far to gather
I still feel your talons on my back
Pierce the skin and puncture heart
Agonizing, this unwelcome penetration
Desperately awaiting the release of your grip ...

And I Shall Loose My Tongue
You think me cruel
For what you say I've done to you
You think me unkind
For reasons you refuse to define
Retreat behind your walls
Refracting all the battle cries
Cower in your empty halls
Safe inside your veil of lies
Mirror, mirror on the wall
How much longer 'til you fall
With no one there to catch you?
You wield the knife
That cut you so, self inflicted strife
You feel cast aside
Isolation by your foolish pride
How dare you stand before me

Orbiting in elliptic fashion
Cast your gaze through atmosphere
Capturing the wondrous beauty
And earthly chaos all the same
Shrouded in endless darkness
Millions of miles to the nearest star
Outsider, you educate the world
With views unseen from the surface
Lonesome is the path you tread
But noble is your cause
Fresh eyes on old world enlightens
Thanklessly circle by
Cast your gaze through atmosphere

Deceptive Imagination
I kissed you last night
It felt just like the first time
Only much sweeter
Our lips fit perfectly
As they had in thousands of prior meetings
It felt like home
It was better this time
Because we earned it
We fought through everything
Cast aside foolish pride
Forgiveness of transgressions
Made with hasty emotions
I kissed you last night
But couldn't find you in the morning
Reality is such a let down
It felt just like the first time

Head Against Heart Syndrome
A flame long extinguished
Re-ignition with a passing glance
Failed attempts at quelling madness
Hopeful at slightest chance
Winds of redemption nurture a blaze
Burning temples to the ground
Passionately the heart betrays
Shattered thoughts abound
A death grip on yesterday
Delusional visions of a fading future
Logic battles feeling
Torn between desires and knowing better
Forgiveness cast aside for fear
Destruction of our invention
There is no innocence here
Only sinners with good...

A Wake for the First Time
We both started this fire
I stayed until the embers burned out
Sifting through ash with stick in hand
Searching for a spark
The flames are gone
Smoke rises to meet the stars
Heat still radiates from the source
I stare at the moon
Hoping that you are too
And not the backlight of your phone
If we stare at the same point
We may find our hearts once more
And not feel so alone
Dew forms on blades of grass
The chill air moves in now
Firmly planted on the back steps
Hopelessly listening for
The tires of...
