POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I write about everything from mythology to emotions. Also, has anyone seen a hobbit?
Mirrors
surrounded by panes of glass
filled with faces no longer mine
images returned from days past
identities i have left behind
each reaching through the mirror
each longing to pull me in
to grasp my throat, to drag me nearer
and show me what might have been
they are what i fear to be
the pieces i have thrown away
each a distant part of me
specters of a distant day
their hands wrap around me
while their words weave woeful songs
ghosts who covet an identity
they yearn only to belong
ghastly hands clutch me with intensity...
filled with faces no longer mine
images returned from days past
identities i have left behind
each reaching through the mirror
each longing to pull me in
to grasp my throat, to drag me nearer
and show me what might have been
they are what i fear to be
the pieces i have thrown away
each a distant part of me
specters of a distant day
their hands wrap around me
while their words weave woeful songs
ghosts who covet an identity
they yearn only to belong
ghastly hands clutch me with intensity...

Zephyr
i lean into the breeze
and let it hold me in it's arms
embracing me with ease
safe from any harm
i let each eyelid fall
and feel the wind's embrace
cloak my face like a shawl
as comforting as lace
it wraps around my fingers
and weaves through my hair
its tender touch lingers
and cleanses me of care
a zephyr with a heart
as loving as a child
regretfully departs
drifting into the wild
and let it hold me in it's arms
embracing me with ease
safe from any harm
i let each eyelid fall
and feel the wind's embrace
cloak my face like a shawl
as comforting as lace
it wraps around my fingers
and weaves through my hair
its tender touch lingers
and cleanses me of care
a zephyr with a heart
as loving as a child
regretfully departs
drifting into the wild

Azure Eyes
In her eyes, the untamed beauty of the sky
Paralyzing, they leave me immobilized
One glance into mine, I'm on fire
and I hope these flames burn higher
Her voice, each syllable a soothing melody
It cures me of any ailment or malady
Leaving me cleansed; pure
Staring into her eyes of azure
Paralyzing, they leave me immobilized
One glance into mine, I'm on fire
and I hope these flames burn higher
Her voice, each syllable a soothing melody
It cures me of any ailment or malady
Leaving me cleansed; pure
Staring into her eyes of azure

Baptism
it's biblical, they say
the way our world has decayed
trading passion for prozac
to ease the fear of the attack
within your mind; your mold
to be crafted and sold
to the bidder willing to pay
for your opinion and soul
we're all desensitized to disaster
so we can help the world burn faster
on fossil fuels and human blood
as the wars, fires, and floods
wash over us like a baptism
the way our world has decayed
trading passion for prozac
to ease the fear of the attack
within your mind; your mold
to be crafted and sold
to the bidder willing to pay
for your opinion and soul
we're all desensitized to disaster
so we can help the world burn faster
on fossil fuels and human blood
as the wars, fires, and floods
wash over us like a baptism

Searching
I'm intoxicated by dreams of a better day
If humanity is a herd, then call me a stray
I've spent my life wandering our plain
Trying to find some shelter from this rain
Any sort of distraction to delay the pain
I'm searching for things that might not be real
Searching for answers to the way that I feel
I should be reaching out with arms spread wide
But I cower in my shell, my one place to hide
Where is home for a vagrant in the rain?
There is no village for one like me
Only the meadow, so wild and free
I've looked for answers deep in my...

Wings of Icarus
In the ivory clouds bathed in sunset
He steadily soars far above any
weakness, worry, or desire
Only wishing to climb higher
A boy much like you and me
embracing the wonder of being free
On the wax wings of eagles, they soar
Father and son united in flight
Gliding together at such height
Escaping a past of opression
due to their avian extensions
As wet wax begins to drip down
from the stretched wings of Icarus
The steady rise suddenly disappears
Confirming...

Sad Serenity
There's serenity in my sorrow
Such a sweet, calm breeze
slowly whispering through
each splinter of my sullen spirit
So quiet, you can hardly hear it
Delicate delusions of happiness
almost as sweet as my sorrow
Lingering for just a moment...
before disappearing until tomorrow
A crackling and calm campfire
with weightless wisps of smoke
gradually climbing so much higher
than my dreams of hope
or my hopeless dreams
Such a sweet, calm breeze
slowly whispering through
each splinter of my sullen spirit
So quiet, you can hardly hear it
Delicate delusions of happiness
almost as sweet as my sorrow
Lingering for just a moment...
before disappearing until tomorrow

gradually climbing so much higher

Labyrinth of Minos
A misty maze littered with lifeless corpses
Slient stone walls surrounding any who enter
Shrieking winds whistle through the night
Skin turns white from such a sight
A place of myth and terrible legend
Filled with complex, concrete corridors
None dare enter this devil's den
Where flesh is food for what dwells within
Lurking darkness in the moon lit air
Such an atrocious animal roams this lair
Not man nor woman, but twice the size
The monster's gaze leave the soul paralyzed
Matted, brown fur infested with vile fleas
Eyes of flawless ruby...
