Poet Introduction
I write about heartbreak, losing people, grief, divorce and really any other sad topic you can think of. I tend to get deep into my feelings with the things I write, and I hope they make you feel the same way that I did for a moment when you read them.

Lost Cause
You are a lost cause,
They will say.
The words like poison in my face.
A lost cause,
No point in trying to help me.
In helping me, you will only hurt yourself,
Then i will blame myself
Crying on the phone.
“A lost cause”
They will say.
Too pretty to cry,
To young to be depressed.
Too mature to be my age,
Too young to act this old.
A lost cause
Grown years after her age
They will say.

Favorite
You are my favorite.
My favorite person
My favorite call
My favorite notification
And i hate it
When I cant get that point across
Stuck with typed words in docs
Words you'll never hear
Words that will stay as thoughts
I know I’ve been dishonest
But that’s because ignorance is bliss.
If i ever told you the truth
It would be a hit or miss.
Hiding off the nasty bits of me
The bits i can’t stand for you to see
The girl with her emotions in a wreck
Her tears staining her cheeks and hands and words. ...

Numb
Sometimes when I get into the shower,
My feet are too cold to realize the water is hot.
Sometimes when I am in the kitchen,
My fingers are too numb to notice they are burning on the pot.
Sometimes when we’re on the phone,
My brain is too happy to yell at me to stop.
To stop thinking, to stop doing, to stop trying, to stop crying.
Sometimes when I’m in the shower,
The water scalds my feet.
Sometimes when I’m in the kitchen,
The stovetop heat attacks me.

Screams Never Said
Remember that time you flirted with my ex”
Yet you fail to mention how you slept with mine.
How you gave me the “photography class” line.
“She walked up and told me”
You saw how he’d hold me
Close to his chest
Never making me feel second best.
“I heard there were more girls”
While I cried in the hall
Did you feel bad at all
“You know I liked him”
No, I really didn’t.
But I suppose you words couldn’t
Ever be wrong and so I believed,
Blocked him and went along
Just you and me. ...

You were every red flag I was warned to avoid,
A little too loud and treating me different with “the boys”
Cowboy hat and modern day morale
Boots shined only to get muddy in the corral
Tell me I’m different
Far too clueless to know the difference
Between saying ily and I love you
Tearing me apart as you do
Three little letters
In bold red
But I wear my rose colored glasses in layers
So each time you take a pair off the signs get clearer

Unloving
Unloving you is like skydiving.
I am so scared to do it, yet I’m already so high up, needing to jump.
Unloving you is like trying a new lipstick.
I’m scared to do it because what if people laugh or think I look stupid.
Unloving you is hard.
Because you were so close.
But I know I need to do it,
For fear of unloving myself if I choose not to.
Unloving myself would be nothing new.
Forgetting myself to take care of you.

Changing Your Ringtone
Is one of the little things.
And its the little things I forgot to do
That make me cry when I think of you.
It’s the things that we said,
And the promises we made.
That were never kept,
But I’ll marry you one day.
It’s these words in my head
And these feelings in my bones
That remind me yet again
You are so long gone.
And even as I hold your hand in mine,
I know its only temporary
Temporary like the words that hung between us
Temporary like the stain in my blue dress
Temporary like all love seems to be. ...

Write Me A River, Then Set It On Fire
Paper and ink
All set for us to read
Yet those words will not be read
Until years down the road
Used by teachers as shows of
“Years ago”
They will boast and brag
Saying “I taught them what they know”
But you did not teach me these words
The feelings that flow into the papers
That stain darker than the blackest ink
Write me a River
Flowing with tears and fears
