POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
The experiments continue; elements combine and react; new substances form; old ideas disintegrate; lenses filter, focus and reflect; the scientist and the lab rat – indistinguishable.
Brake & Enter
I drive the dreaded drive
So long with time to get there
To prepare for the worst
The dead eyes behind the glass
Expressionless faces caught in the glare
The rivers of cars
The warning signs
The flashing lights
The indicators
The graffiti bus stops
The polluted air
The made up buildings
The lack of care
The students
The bus drivers
The guards
The gates
I enter
I park
I lead myself in
Give myself up
My cell invites me in
And time suddenly slows
So long with time to get there
To prepare for the worst
The dead eyes behind the glass
Expressionless faces caught in the glare
The rivers of cars
The warning signs
The flashing lights
The indicators
The graffiti bus stops
The polluted air
The made up buildings
The lack of care
The students
The bus drivers
The guards
The gates
I enter
I park
I lead myself in
Give myself up
My cell invites me in
And time suddenly slows

Nice Day for Murder
Kill devil within,
Justifiable suicide,
Part of me will die,
For greater good,
My Mr Hyde,
My dark side,
My hedonist,
And enemy,
Not my friend,
Deserves to die,
Offended queen,
Must go now,
I’m jealous,
Tried to tear us apart,
High treason!
Time to go,
Has been fun,
Too much,
Farewell beast

Ode to a Dirty Old Man
Bukowski
Sat and read poetry
He also sat
When he wrote it
He was never young
Bukowski
He hit life hard
Like his father’s beltings
With German efficiency
And the lust
Of a wild Barbarian
Bukowski
Not like Hemingway
And his boorish
Macho bullshit
Nor Rumsfeld who
Also stood at his desk
Adding his Neo-Con shekels
No
Hank was his own man
He called a fuck a fuck
And a phony a phony
He looked a mess but
His conscience was neat
I...
