Hope Lost. Hope Regained.
I have been avoiding
Some demons
Demons that keep reminding
me of what could've been
They keep reminding
me of my failures
They keep trying
to use doubt as a weapon
They keep trying
to take away my dreams
What I am learning
is that repression
is a prison of its own,
so I have decided to
look each of them eye to eye
To have a conversation
with each one and
understand where
they are coming from
You see these demons
are my own thoughts
I have ignored them
for...

Effort
So I picked up my phone
Then Dialled your number
This is a call I have been
Looking forward to the whole day
I dialled each digit perfectly
then looked at the combination
Of numbers and I could already
Hear your voice.
Then I realized something
Something that lead to me
Putting my phone down
When have you called me?
When have you thought of me?
When did you look forward
To hearing from me?
A little effort goes a long way
But I see that I am putting in
All the effort
I find Joy...
Then Dialled your number
This is a call I have been

MISCELLANEOUS POEM

He Stepped Out
He was back
But his spirit
never returned
He still remembered
the journey
Because being at home
never grounded him
For he now knew
what the world looked like
He knew how much more
he could grow
And as such never felt at home
when he was home
For his heart was elsewhere
He loved the day
he stepped out
But hated the day
he stepped back in
For it was not his choice
It was his responsibility they said
Yet nobody around him
Knew that his vision had...
But his spirit

The Man
So I am sitting here thinking
What really makes a man
Is it staunch bravery?
Is it ones hard working nature?
Is it the ability to provide?
But then I also have to ask myself:
Am I trying to be the man
I think the world deserves
Or the type of man I think I should be?
Am I the type of son
that can carry a legacy?
The type of son
that my parents can be proud of?
Am I the type of son
who will one day be a man
in his own family?
Then again
who are the men that are around me? ...
What really makes a man

The First Step
I have seen happiness
In the eyes of many
Who live this life
They are able to give
Their children what they want
They are able to go buy what
They want, within budget
They find a partner with similar
Aspirations and things work out
They are happy
That is all that matters
That your smile is genuine
That your heart isn't heavy
And you feel full of life
But the thing is
I know that there is more
This is not a matter of
Chasing the bigger deal
But what I feel inside of myself

A father's Advice
Listen my son
What I am about to tell you
Is not a pun
I am telling you this
because you are my son
These are the lessons I wish
I could have taught you before
Your story began

Loves Rebirth
Love had Lived
Love had died
And when Love was gone
Fear took Loves Place
Love was gone
And I was afraid:
Afraid of loving again
Afraid of feeling again
Afraid of being open again
I had forgotten that I too am Love
So by letting love die

A corpse was living my life
And nothing that I worked on
Came into fruition
It rot from the get go

I became self absorbed:
Ego move into
Where Love used to live

Love is
I have heard people say:
love is patient and love is kind.
I have heard of all the ideals
that come with love
but in truth
these just come with time.
Love hurts us
Then heals us
Love forgets us
Then knows us
Love is vulnerable
Yet strong
Love is us
Love is the touch of a mother
Love is seeing another
For who they are
And not what you wish they could be
Love is who you are in your nakedness before God
Love is a dream
The dream that keeps you awake
The dream that manifests...

I Searched for God
I had to drown myself with myself
in order to find my God.
I had to step out of my own shell
And let myself sink in my own thoughts
in order to find my God.
I had to look within
in order to manifest all the things
that are outside of myself
And all this I had to do
in order to find my God.
I had to go all around the world
Looking at people
Looking at their souls
And Looking deep within their being
I had to empathise with with their hurts and knowing their blessings
I had to empathise wih their dreams ...
in order to find my God.
I had to step out of my own shell

in order to find my God.
I had to look within
in order to manifest all the things

Hunger
A moments thirst can be quenched
with a single sip of water
But that of a days needs an entire river
The Hunger of a moment can be overcome
with a single bite of food
But that of a day
Needs an entire feast
So my Lord for an entire day
in which I do not feel your presence
I will need an entire week
In your glory
For an entire week
I will need a month
And for an entire month
I will need a whole year
Yes you said I will never go hungry again
But today that is how I am
You said I will never thirst again ...
with a single sip of water

Let Me Not Lie
I don't want to lie to you
Saying that I need you
Because the truth is
I only want you.
I don't want to lie to you
Saying that I can't live without you
Because the truth is
I'm still doing just fine.
I don't mind watching a Romcom
But I do not live in one
Because I am more of a realist
And the type of Love I will to give
Will be the realest.
I have many vices
Quirks that make me, me
One of them is that I hate waiting
My patience has it's limits
So I could wait for you
But not forever ...
Saying that I need you
