The news came in
like a cold autumn rain
before the snow
It always seems to come
in threes
like some perverse triangle
encompassing you
It is only the thought of spring
that keeps us
from falling into despair

Esmeralda
Death took me by the hand
as she often does
told me she wanted to take me
to a place
I had never been
But as fate would have it
she spotted a food truck
by the side of the road
and muttered to herself
" I love me some soul food."
and off she went
I took the opportunity
to escape her shadow
and headed
to the sacred place
to see the pharaoh shaman
He put me through the rituals
Afterwards
I rang the bell
like some holocaust Quasimodo...
I was cancer free
and...
as she often does
told me she wanted to take me
to a place
I had never been
But as fate would have it

and off she went

Black blood
poison makes it's way
through my veins
like a Panzer
through polish streets
leaving
my life's highway
in ruins
I become
a pincushion
for every lab tek
nurse and phlebotomist
walking the halls
of this sanitized hell
leaving me guessing
is the cure
worse than the disease

Almost Judas
Almost Judas
I felt the overbearing weight of an angel
crushing my gray matter
suffocating me with attention
and half-hearted affection
I was however
in no mood for such pleasantries
In my mind
I spattered her on
the windshield
like some kind of glittering technicolor bug
I drove away
leaving a cloud of dust
to forever hang in the air
like that final reply
at the end of a fight
the one later on
in hindsight
you regret
but never speak aloud
I come to the senses of reality

blood soaked
phallic symbol
dangling between my legs
is about as useless
as a statue
of St. Gianna Beretta Molla
on the corner
of 7th ave and anywhere
if a bird took a dump
the subsequent vibrations
would certainly
cause a junkie earthquake
moments later
it is all like
some top 40's song
on the radio
from a different era
