POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I love the use of words and do as I am able to celebrate them. If I can paint a literal picture or impart emotion, mission accomplished.
One Look
I knew the touch of your skin under the tips of my fingers
The scent of your hair
The smell of your skin- the mix of sweat and something sweet
The subtle sound you would make in a sigh
I knew the small way your mouth turned in your smile
I felt the heat of your body against mine
The feel of your lips – strong yet tender
I saw how you moved with an illustrious grace
A woman in knowledge of her body
Comfortable and confident you knew who you were
And you knew who I saw underneath
My mind raced as it traced along the curves of your body...
The scent of your hair
The smell of your skin- the mix of sweat and something sweet
The subtle sound you would make in a sigh
I knew the small way your mouth turned in your smile
I felt the heat of your body against mine
The feel of your lips – strong yet tender

I Can't Help but Wonder
I can’t help but wonder
If I write about you and ponder you in my mind
Do you exist?
I know you aren’t there in person, here
But in some side pocket of reality, in some alternate dimension
Is there a world where the words that I write become reality?
It brings me comfort to think it may be true
That by thinking of you
Giving the words that you say and the things that you do
Living the life you lead in the world that comes from my mind
That you actually exist there
Outside of time but real
I can’t help but wonder
If I write about you and ponder you in my mind
Do you exist?
I know you aren’t there in person, here
But in some side pocket of reality, in some alternate dimension

The Sword On My Back
Feeling lost and a little bit astray
I looked to you for guidance
Where should I go, what should I do
I had asked you these questions more than once
As I heard the music play and voices lift on high
I had a peculiar feeling
A plate of armor was adorned on my chest
A sword hung on my back that was gleaming
Greaves made from the chains that held me
Now adorned my arms
Protection or a whip to fight my enemies
My newfound armor had its very own charm
You reminded me that I was a warrior
One certainly to be feared
A member of royalty I would...

Holding Out For a Hero
There’s something I don’t understand
So I plead you will reveal me
The answer to that which perplexes me so
And sends my comprehension reeling
When I think of those we claimed as heroes
Those who stood out of the crowd
They were people who were extraordinary
Those who threw off their circumstances and refused to cow down
Men and women who stood up for what’s right
Taking a stand in the face of injustice
They looked at the world and vowed to make it better
Their purpose in live and drive was just this
So far this...

Outside of Me
Stepping outside my body
I traverse the open seas to find you
I meet you
My mouth wants to ravage
You had prodded me with your words
Images of your body
Just enough to entice
You knew what you were doing
Stoking a fire that now burns too hot
A flirtatious smile
Skin
The look in your eye
Now you consume me
I reach to touch
To taste
To have you feel me inside
No thoughts allowed
Just…animalistic instinct
Just action
Desire inside my chest that drives me
Pushes me to look like someone not me
Isn’t this what you...

What You Don't See On My Face
Today I want to fight
I want to strike out and make someone bleed
To move fast and send my rage on to someone else
To see read and breathe fire
To hurt and to bleed and gasp for air through my lungs
Not to care about who gets in my way
To stand among my enemies with clenched fists
To be spent
Today I want to argue
To go against someone in every single way no matter if I’m right
As long as I’m not wrong
To punch holes in your defenses
Bringing you down to your knees reeling from my words
To show you all your weaknesses and rub your nose...

Growing Weary
I am cursed, a truly wretched thing
I feel a selfish evil at work inside me
It comes against me again and again
Unrelenting and forever inciting
It knows just what will tempt me
Using my cursed eyes to bring me in
A flirtatious word to stroke my ego
In one swift stroke I am back in my sin
I grow tired of fighting even in victory
When I win it feels like I lose
I want to go on in peace but that's not my fate
Each day I am forced again to choose
There are times I consider what it would be like
To relent and give in to my nature
Pursuing...

Prelude to Date Night
Getting ready to go out for the evening
You ask for my help with your dress
All that remains is the zipper to move
To complete your pristine look to impress
I move up behind you to do as you bid
And close the small teeth up your back
Instead I hold just a moment and take in the view
Underneath your dress all in black
The curves that are you hold fast my gaze
I cannot turn from the visage of you
My hands find your skin instead of your clothes
My plans for the evening out the window I threw
You feel me behind as I draw in your sent
Then my...

The Love of the Fight
No matter how many times it happens
The anticipation hits me every time
The moment just before the moment
Where my energy builds up on the inside
My adrenaline hits my blood stream
As my muscles respond to my command
Drawing my weapon I move on forward
To engage my opponent where he stands
The movements go on with ferocity
As our bodies know just where to move
Dancing this dance as much as we have
Each strike hits home and is true
I cannot help but feel like a child
With my imagination saving the world in my room
In my backyard...

The Letter
I am not with you now, but some place away
Yet I am still by your side
The written page you hold in your hand
Will give you words as to feel me inside
Settling down to read my thoughtful, sweet love note
You will find something not quite so sweet
For I left you today with soft words of love
My words here are for us in the sheets
Beginning to read the script that I’ve laid
Your senses will begin to heighten
You feel a quick flush and then just enough
To feel your legs reflexively tighten
My words tell you in detail just what I would do
If I...

Mortality in the Distance
I stared off into mortality again
To get a better look at its face
All I can see is how I don’t want it to go
Praying that as I age I receive grace
It’s a normal thing to contemplate your own future
To wonder where you will wind up down the road
Who you will meet along your journey
And who you will take with you in tow
My wish is to do well in spite of myself
On my own I will only cause failure
Please God grant me strength to run till the end
And keep my stance and composure
Though I look to the distance, it’s still a ways off...

You Inspired Me to Dance
I’m not one who is normally up for dancing
Content to myself I keep to the side
Watching other people take their spot on the floor
See them move with their partners, dip and then glide
Secure as a wallflower I held my strong perch
But it was you who inspired me to move
You were not content to dance all alone
So you pulled me into your own groove
I was unable to refuse you; I was transfixed from the start
By the way that your dress clung to your figure
You then beckoned me on with the sway of your hips
For just but a moment I was frozen and lingered...
Content to myself I keep to the side
Watching other people take their spot on the floor
See them move with their partners, dip and then glide
Secure as a wallflower I held my strong perch
But it was you who inspired me to move
