Grief
Grief may be the thing with feathers
but it latches on and weighs a tonne
it clings and stings and also tethers
whenever you’ve a loved one, gone
shock struck first, still in disbelief
I thought by next morning you’ll be here
I’ve two lumps now, both made of grief
their burden feels so very sheer
heaps of memories rush to me
of all the laughter, such happy times
you were a bringer of joy and glee
now sorrow chose to skip the line
but it latches on and weighs a tonne
it clings and stings and also tethers
whenever you’ve a loved one, gone
shock struck first, still in disbelief
I thought by next morning you’ll be here
I’ve two lumps now, both made of grief
their burden feels so very sheer
heaps of memories rush to me
of all the laughter, such happy times
you were a bringer of joy and glee
now sorrow chose to skip the line

Unjust description
There exists an unending esplanade inside my mind and I very often manage to see you there. It lingers, as I do, devotedly, to the time where it breaks out of my mind and into reality. And of course, you are as alluring as ever, in a magical sundress with the sun kissing your soft pale skin. “I won” is what I hear inside my brain and these are the two words that pour out unwillingly. The rays gently touch your smile and allow it to shine even brighter as I gaze, overpowering the urge not to, in hopes of not going blind. Your cascading hair flows as the softest of gales breathe into it, it’s...

A Letter to my Father
I’ve many unattainable wishes
and a lump in my throat
why do I try to hold my tears
when it’s my longing they denote
I wound back the clocks
to have a proper parting
a kiss on your head, a hug goodbye
but time’s just not restarting
all my previous lumps have faded
and their fading’s been so brief
but this one’s here to stay
for it’s accompanied by grief
and a lump in my throat
why do I try to hold my tears
when it’s my longing they denote
I wound back the clocks
to have a proper parting
a kiss on your head, a hug goodbye
but time’s just not restarting

The worshiper’s journey
Entangled he was within his own madness
raveled inside his unease of mind
seeking fruit off of all the dead branches
none of the trees were so very kind
He dwelt wherever light was absent
loathing all that speaks of sunshine
a life with no regards for advancement
slowly declining but pretending he’s fine
A spark is cast betwixt all the faces
ever since, his eyes are rejecting to move
A cynosure, wherever she goes he traces
swiftly he was within the goddess’ grove
Thereafter he was, enamored with her
at last...

She’s true
She’s made of roaring thunderstorms
and the calm that follows through
she’s the frozen, icy mountaintop
and the gentle morning dew
She’s the lilac amidst a field of roses
she gives a shining blissful hue
she’s everything but most of all
amidst all the lies she’s true
and the calm that follows through
she’s the frozen, icy mountaintop
and the gentle morning dew

Faulty feelings
Foreignness of feelings
faulty ones that I feign
fearful and fearsome all at once
full of regrets that I try to refrain
from doing but it’s all a fable
consisting of sugarcoated fibs
trying to shun all that is fatal
forging a world where no alibis fizz
foolishly fabricating a world of fiction
where fulfillment exists on a fairway
a fugitive from a philanthropic function
freedom is far & it’s growing further away
I fail to free myself from this frenzy
but I remain faithful to the feelings I feign
even if they’re fake...

My shell
I enshroud myself
within a shell
a feeble shell
of strength
and carelessness
because I’m afraid
of a mighty fall
of losing all
the love I try
so hard to harness
within a shell
a feeble shell
of strength
and carelessness
because I’m afraid
of a mighty fall
of losing all
the love I try

Parallel
Words are slipping out of me
and onto this page
stunned at how beauty’s
a parallel to your age
in love with how most of them
you redefine
while I lie dumbfounded
cause of the fact that you’re mine

a cluster of words
Slowly these thoughts accumulate
their burden on my mind is great
forcing me to resort to sleep
reforming all my love to hate
I wake and I am drenched in sweat
staring at my lonesome silhouette
is that my future glancing at me
drowned in salty waters, wet
these words orbit inside my head
what once flourished, now is dead
constellations of man-made regrets
of the twisted, tangled words I said
but what’s in my mind should not get out
or in every other mind they’ll sprout
their burden on my mind is great
forcing me to resort to sleep
reforming all my love to hate
I wake and I am drenched in sweat

Drought
-
I am drought for the flowers within me
they wilt and wither when I wake
although I never intended to be
the one secluded mirage of a lake
they seek shelter that I cannot give
amidst the empty desert sands
I hope one day they can forgive
when I elevate to greener lands
that’s when you come into the story
a blissful rain that quenches their thirst
my only means of grasping glory
they smile now and with love they burst
They’re forever grateful and so am I
for with your love they’re immortalized

overthinking
It seems as though sleep solves it all
the riddles forming inside my head
soon as I wake it all crumbles and falls
filled with words that I should have said
it’s a labyrinth, a quite mysterious one
I have not a clue if I locked myself in
contemplating all the things I have done
counting the paths in which I can win
It seems as if I’m counting sheep
and as I begin they all disappear
and once again I just can’t get any sleep
I lay with thoughts of distraught and of fear
all while the clock keeps ticking away
and with it the dreams...

A friend called grief
-
I see you’re once more acquainted
with a friend that lingers, restlessly
and life is once more tainted
by the stains left by your tears
It visits when you least expect it
and fills you with its hue
when it knocks, in you let it
and allow it to take over you
As you should, for it’s there to aid
it eases the pains that death inflicts
pulls you out of the gloom unscathed
with slow, and steady, baby-steps
grief is the friend that lingers
a friend that every human knows
even though pain tries its best to...
