Drought

-
I am drought for the flowers within me
they wilt and wither when I wake
although I never intended to be
the one secluded mirage of a lake
they seek shelter that I cannot give
amidst the empty desert sands
I hope one day they can forgive
when I elevate to greener lands
that’s when you come into the story
a blissful rain that quenches their thirst
my only means of grasping glory
they smile now and with love they burst

They’re forever grateful and so am I
for with your love they’re immortalized

Author's Note
I was surrounded by bleakness at work and all of a sudden my girlfriend texted me the best compliment I have ever received and well this is what sprouted out of that. Just some appreciation for her.
