POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Hello beautiful people, my name is Kelly and I am a chemist from Indianapolis. I have thoroughly enjoyed what I have perused on DU so far and I feel honored to share my poetry in this forum of such talented poets.

I could pop my heart
like a zit
spatter pestilent gore
on my mirror of
regrets
“once you get the poison out it doesn’t hurt anymore”
but it leaves one hell of a pock mark…..

Such a fine line
between love
and hate...
Every moment in your presence confirms this.
You make me
sick-
Your calculated cruelty,
your manipulative, emotional attacks..
Your concealed insecurity
is painfully obvious
to me.
And yet I love you
with the entire expanse of my soul
however sick and poisoned
it has become.
I have to believe you care-
I greedily hoard
every rare display
of kindness
you accidentally show.
The time has come
for you to go...
I watch the days pass with a heavy heart
even though...
between love
and hate...

Driving past random roadkill
A sea of glittering green corn
surrounds me
(us)
it reminds me of Tunnelton
and demonic dogs
an afternoon spent with you
in a long-ago summer
chasing [our] ghosts..
My heart keenly aches:
for what was then
and what is now
but mostly for what
might have been.
I tried so hard to love you
to be your soft place to fall
but I was too
weak
so we both fell
we just landed too far apart
to find each other again.
The broken pieces of our lives
only confound and confuse
us
I...
