Spots and Stripes (co-written with Jade-Pandora)
I sit up in my place high above the sky
Some have wondered if I ever wanted to be the Sun that brightens up every day
I’m proud that I radiate light in the darkest of nights
Down below I see something pick up the pace.
Not much interests me when I’m content being up in the heavens
Yet this sleek and quick form rouses my curiosity
Despite the exertion, I can hear its heartbeat dance to a steady rhythm
I notice that the figure runs in the direction of my luminosity.
It’s no strange occurrence to have Earth’s creatures follow my light ...

Looking back at my life, I know where I screwed up
Chasing a stupid fantasy that soon went corrupt
My lilac-tinted glasses obscured my clear view
Next thing I’m broke and with bills that are overdue.

Is this supposed to be my happy ending?
Never could keep a job, but I’d say yes to spending
I always thought that I could buy happiness
Yet that’s not the case with my bank account in minus.

Just like a floating iceberg there’s more to me below the surface ...

In His Smile
After going through each stressed-filled day
His smile is like the sun breaking through the clouds
It’s the ultimate golden dream and it paves my way
A voiceless declaration of contentment and it’s loud.
The purest blessing I can get is his beautiful smile
It can cheer me up from even the darkest of moods
I could just sit and stare at him for a while
My constant happiness is proof that things are going right which includes:
Our similarities and our differences
Have brought us closer together
Our shared passions and equal...

I Am
The mirror is a double-edged blade
It can either puncture my heart or fight off negativity
As I stare into my eyes of warm chocolate shade
I vainly ponder upon my identity.
Society tells me that I can be whomever I want
Yet when I try to express myself, I’m told that I’m doing it wrong
I stand up for what I believe in, yet their reaction is to taunt
I’m of a certain ethnicity; I don’t know any better, so I should just move along.
I remain silent, yet inwardly I’m losing my mind
Stop telling me what to do and what to think! ...

Darling do you know how happy I am?
I was slowly falling into a black hole
And you pulled me out in the nick of time.
Darling do you know how complete you make me?
We’re a match made in heaven
I thank God every day I have you.
Darling do you know you mean the world to me?
Waiting all these years for you was worth it
I can’t picture spending my life with anyone else.

Your gorgeous eyes and your adorable Scott smile
And the feeling of your strong arms embracing me.

Once the sun sets and the stars come out
I hear this incredible calling
Their presence in the dark eases my doubts

I hear your calling in the wind
And my soul leaps in joy
I feel so warm deep within
When you set the sails and shout “ahoy.”

Dear Me
Little crab, do you know how far you'll go?
I didn't either when I was your age
It was a big step for me to go into the unknown
But it was better than being trapped in a cage.
I know exactly how you felt when you looked out across the sea
You wondered if you would ever make it to the other side
I'm not quite there, but I'm a lot closer than it seems
Be prepared because it'll be one hell of a ride.
I'm sorry to say that you'll be disappointed and betrayed
There will be times where you'll wonder if you made the right choice

Let it go
You’re only hurting yourself more
When you hold onto
The things that hurt you before.
The warm sunlight shines on me
Yet I still feel cold
Sometimes I question my worth
Is there some purpose for which I serve?
I’m always told to just believe
Yet I have no hope.
Don’t fear the night
It’s only ignorance giving you that fear
I’ll make your days feel bright
Don’t you worry, I’m here
Just open your eyes
And see the pure beauty all around

I am at the beach; the golden sand warms up my bare feet as the calm ocean waves cool them off in return. I take in a deep breath and exhale slowly. The salty air acts as a disinfectant for all of the wounds that I carry with me; wounds that have not healed all the way.
