POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I sit and observe and try to pick through the pieces of that thing we call life to find something true
I wrote this for you in a kinder world
A boy and a girl sat on a hill at sunset. It was not so special a hill to those who passed down below. It was, in fact, completely unremarkable in every way except that it was here that the veil of human cruelty was thinnest and the heavens came closest to touching the earth. It was also, by sheer coincidence, a graveyard. But to the boy and girl it was remarkable only because they were on it, and the rest of the world lay far below.
The boy lay on his back in the grass and looked up at the glittering lights of the stars. "Why doesn't anyone stay in my life for very long?" he asked...

Scattered memories
I sift through years
Of recorded heartache
Pain, longing, desire and hatred
Broken
memories
strewn
though
bits
of
code --
Love and passion of years gone by
Lovers come and gone
I sort through your mind and some things are familiar
But the girl who saw them is not--
Can I think so fondly of things I once viewed
With outsider's eyes and a jealous heart?
(They are foreign to me, these late-night confessions
Of strangers' lips and soft smooth skin
To electric glow of comforting presence
Of stranger-still...

Black and White
Little girls in classrooms learn
Don't ask questions, wait your turn
Manners, numbers, wrong from right
Life is always black or white.
They dressed you up in silk and ribbons,
Told you life was yours to make
Then clipped your wings and left you helpless
Told you which roads you should take.
Do what they say, don't you fight
They know what's best, it's black and white.
Pieces on a glossy board, each with their own path to choose
But not for you, you're just a pawn
And either way you're bound to loose.
Just go straight, no left or...
