POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Young Soldier
As I fly above the earth entering an operation,
Adrenaline pumps as the sky starts to darken,
I sit in wait for the action that I hope will come,
I’m addicted to my job and when I see death I feel numb,
Is it dangerous that what I do makes me feel good?
Was it the right to suspend my childhood?
I am young but not young enough to die,
So now I sit as the pilot yells “we’re on standby”,
The light goes red and I jump, jump, jump
Then moments later I land in a dirt hump,
I pull up my rifle while flares are going of around me,
I pull myself up,...

Problems Bring Loneliness
I watch each car cruise under the lights of a lonely road,
I watch each passenger from my current abode,
I realise that my problems are dots on a large world full of others,
But from behind my window those who were close recommend doctors,
I don’t need the help I am having fun,
They’re shocked and stand there frozen,
They say you’ve changed and we don’t want you,
So now I’m alone and just lay facing upwards seeing only blue.
