When I rest
From the journey
I will rest with the greats
Tell stories
Of triumph and loss
Talk about the old ways
Forgotten
As we laugh
Knowing that we have paid
The final cost
When I rest
I won't bother anyone
For love
Or grief
I won't bring any misery
I won't hurt
There will be peace
I am sure things will go on
Old friends and enemies
Helpers and abusers
All, will forget about me
I will rest
No more heavy load
Problems gone instantly
I will sleep a deep...

Walkin on away
On a lone

They say I don't belong
Well I better go away
Lightnin and thunder
Crash
Above my head
I feel like sleepin
In cold grave
Than walkin this gravel road
My feet done bled

Is in behind me
Telling me I can't stay
I can't die
Won't let me

No mo workin
No mo churchin

Love to me
Love has been good to me
I may not have the type of love I want, but its been so good
I have been allowed to give it too
Coming from a guy from the backwoods
I saw love in a woman's eyes
She took good care of me growing up
I may have longed for more
She gave me just enough
I saw her be slapped in the face
I angered because of her tears of sorrow
I wanted to fight
She said, "No, we'll pray and come back tomorrow"
That was love, grandma
I knew a love that used to trick me
Knowing that I was her's all...

Sorry, I have to send you this
Just a little list
Of all the things I kept for you
I don't need it now, sending it to you
I tried to get you to understand
You just wanted other than
Always kept you for yourself
Here's the list, but I will give these to somebody else
One look that said you were my everything
A kiss that said you were enough
That hug that kept you warm
This strong back you rode when times got tough
Some extra energy I kept for nights
A big smile that started the days
That understanding the kept...

Reflect
I say it was a cold day
With the flames flowing
Stones you threw
First one hit and it began
Suprised
Can't believe it came from you
Then it rained
No protection as it hailed
Each one damaging, breaking
Lashing out would not help
You would war on
Hurling while I was shaking
Stain
Remains
Where I lay
Understanding gone
Destruct
Betray
After the last stone
After tucking the pain away

Something
Little butterfies orange with yellow dots
Sun in the corner of my eye, making little black spots
Tall pine trees reflect a perfect green
And I
I sit with time to think, just rocking
The children running down the street
Just some puddle splat kids
Playing and laughing
How joyous it is
Youth
I just melt away here in the setting sun
No-one holding my hand
And its ok
The storm has passed
Purple and blue are kissing the sky
I am but a grain watching it in my eye
Wanting to touch it
Broken...

Another Day Done
Tired I sit
Watching as the sun heads west
Taking a little time
Thinking of her
Silly
Right
I know that she
She's not thinking of me
That's ok
Until tonight
I know that soon
I'll be staring at the moon
Red eyed
Planning the next day
I know I'm right
To let it go
Loving
And not loved the right way
Sun will soon set
I will try to forget
Sometime tonight

I'm just sitting here
Came to drink away some blues
I know my smile may be a little crooked
Its the one I chose to use
Since the last heartbreak
I haven't smiled as fast
So excuse the almost smile
Its all the smile I have
Yeah, I can tell you where I come from
Places I have been
Even tell you what would turn me on
I would be jumping the gun again
How about I just be honest
Before you say I meant any harm
You are beautiful indeed,
But I'm not ready, so be warned
We can hang a while and...

Cast not my love far from sight
Riding the setting sun into the night
Let me admire the fire of
Scorching sky, burning of moonrise love
Down the day with laughter of children
Shadows casting long and then
Slowly the birds cross the sky
Passing by, passing by
Green, a scene the grass at dusk
Rising moon enchanting us
Setting in for sunset is captured
Taking me over, again and again in beauty enraptured
Fingertips in the palm of my hand

Forgot how you have done me
Ways you used to run me
Resulting in you contacting me today
So you told someone a truth

I know your next steps will be to play
Men and women are different
Some come to heal and repair
Some really need that gentle love
Some long for you to cause dispair
They can be free to do what they want
Use a disagreement as a front
