POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
i am a dark writer, i write about the desolated and the dead. i say to all who struggle: who told you that you are worthless, who told you that you are without hope and full of despair?
There Lives A Man
There lives a man who cannot attain
He can no longer walk and his legs become lame
The legs that won’t work have feet that are bowed
And far to his south are ten broken toes
What do you call him who forgets his name?
He takes no umbrella to lie in the rain
He feels he’s been cheated and sees only pain
His heart has been broken and that’s what he blames
“Curse this foul heart! Get it out of my chest!”
The pills that he swallows will slow down his breath
“Nobody knows me or cares if I die”
He recalls his name, then calls it a lie

The Pained
The pained will continue to struggle to breathe
Pushing pollution past whimpering trees
The journey they take on crumbling knees
The chains that they wear are so hard to free
Their viewpoint is smog, contamination and waste
They feed off of pain; there is death in their taste
Their tongues will now mold when they do as their told
A statue collapses with the arms that they hold
Their feet walk on ground that is shattered with glass
The station in front sits a train that won’t pass
Obscurity lies behind the pained ones
Their pottery painted...

The Cutters
The cutters are plagued by the words that they hear
The closest of kin shouting hatred and fear
The cutters will see only shreds at their veins
They chop as they try to cut out their pain
The blood that does fall in attempts to be healed
Pooling in lakes as a mote and a shield
The false sense of comfort they bring to themselves
Feeling forgotten, alone where they dwell
The sting of the blade as it curses the wrist,
The arm or the leg, as the blood turns to mist
The ache of the scab that is longing to mend
The heart that does...

Deviousity Killed the Cat
Deviousity killed the cat
Stepping over lines they dare not pass
Or on toes that will not break,
Nor will they bend
Do not expect those who choose not to believe
To care or change or budge or be
Although, they will attempt to convert
Yet, cannot state a creed or God
They give no rein to any entity or Beast
There is nothing above, there is nothing below
The largest thing they fathom is the weakest thing I know
Trying to prove a point that will die with them
If I lose, what have I to give?
If we win, they will forfeit their soul

A Seed
A seed is all that I may be
But in the end, I’ll be a tree
I will give shade to any friend
They’ll make their homes upon my limbs
But growing tall seems far away
And I may freeze before its day
The breeze and darkness all surround
I am alone upon this ground
The night is long, where is the sun?
My empty life I have become
I’ll make a friendship with the mud
I’ll crack my shell and spill my blood
The permeating warmth I feel
Reminding me that I am real
I have a purpose and a prose
Just as the thorn is to the rose

The Bully
The bully gets under your skin
He fights and claws, all with a grin
He’ll shove your face into the mud
He’ll make your new shirt stained with blood
The weaker child runs away
While wishing he had words to say
The teachers seem like they don’t care
The victim’s life seems so unfair
The bully has learned from his dad
Who beats his mom at night real bad
He watches her fall to the ground
His father kicks his mom around
The one who’s picked on has no friends
They will watch but not defend
His parents tell him to fight back...

The Pilot
The homeless man sleeps in the rain
He steals and sells to buy his pain
The homeless man knows not his kin
His wife and kids abandoned him
A single shirt and pants he packs
Picking cigarettes from cracks
He roams and knows not where he goes
As a river only flows
No direction, sight or sound
He makes him bed upon the ground
Has he always been this way?
Will he swim to shore one day?
Do his parents even know,
The depths their son has had to go?
How can one man stay afloat,
Without life jackets on his boat?

The Jester
A jester tries all to appease
To keep his head he’ll break his knees
And as they laugh, he is in pain,
His consciousness he does regain
He lost his name and then his tongue
His wife and children all were hung,
And as they swung he sang that day
An Ode to Death is what he prayed
The Grim came in, exchanged his soul
But what he wanted was not gold,
“To be wiser than the King,
Then one day he will call on me.
When that day comes I’ll take away
His eyes and limbs, I’ll watch him sway
And from afar I’ll watch the Queen...

Battlefields
As long as there are slaughterhouses, there will be battlefields"
-Leo Tolstoy
Bruised and beaten, in a cage
It matters not your look or age
Confined and cramped and far from home
With swollen joints and broken bones
You cannot play but you will feed
On their disease and gluttony
Folded up and then stuffed in
You’re never getting out again
You scream so long your voice goes out
The sounds I’d rather live without
What I would do so you could live
I’d never think a word again
I’d never write...

The Child
The child cries, yet cannot see
Her mother on the balcony
Just one more dose to take away
The pain, abuse, the disarray
She chose to numb instead of feel
She pays for death instead of meals
Her daughter will grow all alone
In and out of broken homes
She wanted to be just like her
But, in the mirror she’ll scream and curse
She will grow old and never know
Why she was left all alone
Her mother did not want to die
She even clawed to get inside
She gasped and grasped up from the floor
She wanted to give just...

My Life of Lies
(an except from a book I am attempting to write)
*I have rested with the shadows and have been reborn with the phoenix, only this time I shall not burn away.*
The world has forgotten about hope. Despair sells more tickets to the theater and we all laugh while locking and leaving the truth in a frail case, awaiting judgment when our feelings are made known. A brighter moment cannot be seen in a world of darkest hours. All this I know, for I once made my bed in this darkness, the darkness that creeps and does not hide, it has no fear and it has no king. There is no...

Red
Blood runs like a river through my dreams
It covers everyone that means anything,
It's so thick that I can't swim
My legs and arms are giving in
There are no colors that I see
No sign of help reaching out for me
My scars are all from what I’ve done
I wake up, yet, there is no sun...
The blood washes off, but it will stain
It's like a needle stabbing at your vein,
It may not be there, but it still shows
Your pupils are dead, but your eyes still glow
So kill the beast that lives inside
Starve your soul and your body will die...
It covers everyone that means anything,
It's so thick that I can't swim
My legs and arms are giving in
There are no colors that I see
No sign of help reaching out for me
