It Is About Us All
For those who are dejected
at what election night brought
didn’t roll away way
I just want to share what I was taught
You may not have won
but if are still trying you haven’t failed
though I know the fear is
any opposition will be jailed
Yes there was a time when
Pete Seeger, Paul Robeson were blacklisted
harassed, scorned, ridiculed
opposition was tight fisted
But they served as models for other
how to oppose and not subsidize hate
still heroes in my eyes
no I must believe it isn’t to...

"My love is in league with the freeway
its passion will rise as the cities fly by
and the tail lights dissolve in the coming of night
And the questions and thousands take flight"
The dove flies high over valleys
avoids the depths of the dark gloom
tries to blend all the conflicts
that guts bonds of dimensions of love
"My love is a-miles in awaiting
the eyes that just stare and the glance at the clock
and the secret that burns, and the pain that grows dark
and it's you once again"

Need Not Be An Inanimate Object
The stars in the sky may shine ever so bright
but even they pale in comparison
to the power of you
even Texas fails with "the big and bright deep in the heart"
"If you want, I'll show you what I have
You can take, take what you want of me
Just don't take the things, that we know are bad
Oh baby, oh baby, hey, I need your love, yeah"
Shower with the radiance
let me bask in the unique glow
with enough pure energy
to make fear of the dark insignificant

Their Numbers Don't Make Sense and since they aren't the band the Talking Heads, Maybe They Should?
I would like to think I am not a sheep
blindly following the Democratic label
more than one occasion
I have rejected voting for a donkey
even for president (1996 voted for dad)
The Republican Party illustrates why
math is vital for more than ever
they disregard the basics with numbers
in their quest to destroy
what has been the foundation
for advancement for all people

toward Barack Obama

My nature is not to bash others
who don't share my political preferences
always being the political scientist
I try to comprehend where others are
I am not an apologist for the Democratic Party
or Uncle Joe, a Kissinger devotee
the declaration of love for capitalism in the fast lane
abandoning Anita Hill
Didn't have my support in 1988, 2008, or 2020
the Democratic Leadership Council will always have my scorn
but when something repugnant and vile comes along
how can I remain silent
