POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Poetry is my therapy.
signals
my mariana shifts
in sodium
i'm alone
floating in this red river
for the sun bleached world
stifling
as if atoms
were all that we are
i'm going back to zero now
let it swirl in my gut like crude oil and brine
living for love
or for nothing at all
it really doesn't matter
it's all the same
there was an iridium flare
like a wound
in the sky
in sodium
i'm alone
floating in this red river
for the sun bleached world
stifling
as if atoms
were all that we are
i'm going back to zero now
let it swirl in my gut like crude oil and brine
living for love
or for nothing at all
it really doesn't matter
it's all the same
there was an iridium flare
like a wound
in the sky

mona
the minute hand rolls the earth
like a white die
we all feel it
see a hand in full flower
see her smile light up a room
we live by the hour
the glacial crawl
the dragging hand
as we inch forward another hour in time
but not
in this house
there are only minute hands here
seconds
moments
because everyone in this room
knows
that...

we all feel it

zero
soul-glow
from our year zero
give me ether
give me my ever-after
i just need to think
all the world is a blinking cursor
affinity for the dead city lights
infinity for dead circuitry
a pair of radar blips coalesce over the ocean
and we are damage
your eyes were a breached exxon hull
i never liked your eyeliner
i don't know why i'm thinking about you
now
time
withers quietly
in the palm of my hand
from our year zero
give me ether
give me my ever-after
i just need to think
all the world is a blinking cursor
affinity for the dead city lights
infinity for dead circuitry
a pair of radar blips coalesce over the ocean
and we are damage

solve et coagula
beauty in asymmetries
in entanglement
interrelationships
with rhythms
housed in bones like lattice
to let the light in
we shine like the sun
from the damage that makes us
not every puzzle begs for a solution

ebb
riding the sun down
like a burning jet liner
give us a charred black sky
give us 4th degree burns
i got a belly
full of ghost, you know
a skull full of afterglow
my personal nightfall
vespers from a choir of slit throats
like a burning jet liner
give us a charred black sky
give us 4th degree burns
i got a belly
full of ghost, you know
a skull full of afterglow
my personal nightfall

a numb
wading in your eye like a thermal pool
loosening meat from bone
heart from body
i had to bathe in your tears
to keep from becoming them

heart from body
i had to bathe in your tears
to keep from becoming them

conflictions
chasm in you
full of glowing mouths like calderas
where heaven ends
the earth is fire engine red
my inner scarlet hue
is for no one
but you
moon halfway into the ocean
the body of christ half in red wine
a bit of shrapnel half-way into my belly
the obsidian of your eyes
like souvenirs from the cataclysm that claimed you
full of glowing mouths like calderas
where heaven ends
the earth is fire engine red
my inner scarlet hue
is for no one
but you
moon halfway into the ocean
the body of christ half in red wine

torture
the full weight of you
ever pressing.
i have a head full of starlight.
i use the word 'love'
as if i understand what it means.
but what can i do
if i love you?
i want to be a different person.
to step away from myself.
i'm not so attached.
i see you
exit your body
through the leaks in the corners of your eyes.
i'd have to put a hole in my head
to exit mine.
deep down
i know
that i am not good enough
for you.

the hive
aresole insecticide seeps into the hive
and everything goes to sleep
a deep sleep
the kind of sleep
you don't return from
like a tiny jonestown
a mass grave
all yellow & black
and dead
and of a single stinger
in a little girls swollen wrist
we learned from god
how to kill when we don't know
what else to do
and everything goes to sleep

tachinidae
time-travel
back to the living room
back to when my beer was full
to parry the velvet
and glitter above
the air around us
full of carbon dioxide and carcinogens
and syntax
insects have it all figured out
flies have thousands of eyes
i only have two
i imagine my aura traveling up the living room curtains
all orange and flickering
how tachinid larvae eat their host from the inside
how emotions do the same

voice
spread my rib cage open
so that this body can be emptied
so it can start again
i always get it wrong
i just want a little reverie to disappear into
even if for only a moment
that's what this is to me
what you are
only a moment ago
through a cell phone
a flicker of time
i can get lost in your voice
the meat inside of me
will turn black as death one day
and i suppose
it is important to understand
what something is
and what something is not
so that this body can be emptied
so it can start again
i always get it wrong
i just want a little reverie to disappear into
even if for only a moment
that's what this is to me
what you are
only a moment ago
