POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Arabica Cologne
Entered into Minerva's 'get your caffeine fix' competition
With science it is crafted
An exacting formula
Of eighty percent double roast Ethiopian
Twenty percent three-quarter roast Kenyan
Whole bean, hand measured
Freshly ground, adjusted for weather
Wet hot extraction
Thirty seconds of thermo-block grumble
To produce dark bitter-sweet perfection
Topped with pupil dilating
Crema, like sun-tanned skin waiting for a kiss
With love it is savoured
Adorned with crystal saccharine
In volumes to balance bitter beauty...

The ergonomic shaped electronic lecture aide always serves as a comforting presence to help centre that stomach squirming nervousness one always feels when standing in front of a large crowd of people. As I gaze out at the crowd of a hundred or so second-year nursing students, the sea of young faces reminds me of my own starting point in my nursing career. Eager...

Crazy Psycho Girl
She dwells in the inverse
Her world glowing whilst others remain dark
Until the Earth shifts
And tables are turned
In her negative
She sheds electrons
To bring vulnerable colour
To a sometimes dour world
Her profane profound prolificness
Supplies her insatiable reality
Fortunate for her fans'
Waxing hunger for heartfelt whispers
For those she favours
A shower of molten exuberance
Sticky sweet heat
Nectar to nurse ego's
Her gifts pinwheel in seductive sparks
Feather light shards of...

Report Data Man & Crazy Psycho Girl
Preface: For the back-story on Report Data Man, check out this link:

Alone in his sepia space
Serenaded by the rumbling hum
Of old air-conditioning
And the chittering of plastic insects at his fingertips
Back bowed by the pressure
Of figures, sums and mean averages
Soul peppered with shot from scatter plots
Soul trapped between Venn diagrams
Intrudes a chiming distraction
A blue and white back-lit flash
And crazy faced words
Backed by ninja...

Hypersmart
This poem is dedicated to all the ADD brainiacs out there. I certainly don't claim to be one of them, but watching you in action is an utter joy. I hope this comes close.
Before the conversation had started
You knew where it ended
Your gaze was 20 minutes into the future
Summarising substances and souls in quickened assessment
Sometimes there is a filter
To the whirring machinations
Of your hyper-threading thoughts
Staged behind strategically placed defences
Laid myriad of traps
Concealed in barbed sentences
Hiding time-delayed...

Of-fence-ive
Beginnings of misunderstandings through miscommunications
Laid poor foundations for our mutual disdain
With ignorance for mortar and 6 weeks to cure
We set our path of pain in concrete
In an exchange of legal advice
Words like unsheathed weapons
Revealing crooked intentions
And a battlefield awash in spite and anger
In a final act of desperate benevolence
To dodge the magistrate’s hammer
You waste no time in making your final strike
Erecting your wall of poison chemical wood
Regrets choke, in your...

Mud Brick House
When snow collects colours
Failing in reflections
Churned under foot
By drudging grind
To take grey
As final palette
Take this sludge as
Mortar for your concerns
With it, Rebuild your walls
Encased in warmth
Bricks built with foreign accents
Fired with Australian sunshine
For while the darkness drapes you
Another delights in radiant warmth
To savour the sensation
Of a celestial smiling face
To stare down at you
When next you awake
Failing in reflections
Churned under foot
By drudging grind
To take grey

Naturally Ordered
We walk a path of sharp dependency
If we keep cutting them out
How many spins around the sun
Before we chain birth to a theatre?
Before your anger strikes this impertinence
Ask yourself first
What shape this world,
Consigned to reproduction
Where success is balanced on the edge of a surgical blade?
In this audacious venture into Women’s Business
Dare we invoke fisticuffs
Between Darwin and God?
Where then lies freedom,
Should forces lay our permanence
In the hands of steel and antiseptic?
If we keep cutting them out
How many spins around the sun
Before we chain birth to a theatre?
Before your anger strikes this impertinence
Ask yourself first

Consigned to reproduction

Cloud 9
Compressed between your soft pressure
I shiver in your atmosphere
Gathered in your cloudy precipitate
I am enwreathed in your smothering peaks
Exuded in your humidity
My turgidity is liberated by your pouring release
Clutched in your passing turbulence
I find my solace in your fading breeze
Our limbs bowed in storms’ passing
I shiver in your atmosphere
Gathered in your cloudy precipitate
I am enwreathed in your smothering peaks
Exuded in your humidity
My turgidity is liberated by your pouring release
Clutched in your passing turbulence
I find my solace in your fading breeze

Shitty Useless Vehicle
Fossil fuel consuming tyrant
Four wheels of elevated capitalism
Styling of an abused brick
With matching aerodynamics
Your necessity a lie
Gamed gullible voracity
Taken for a ride
By marketing hypnotherapy
Reversing over our future
In all-wheel rending violence
Pompous idol of audacity
Of impotent compensation
Originally written with the intention of entering Grace's Disgusting and Repugnant competition...until I realised it was prose she had called for! FAIL - LOL

Her Obscene Cackling Green **entered into Colten Sorrel's 'Trippy' Competition**
Down by the wall of the cawing squall
You will hear her cackling green
Whispered words, considered quite absurd,
And commonly reckoned obscene.
“I’ll brush you down there,
with my dandelion hair”
Fibres strike in a flutter, mind in the gutter
As your seed takes to the air
In an explosion of stars
You walk a landscape of bra’s
Conjured by her laugh, the crazy old tart
Custard’s your cream in a jar
As you fall from the sky
With the grace of pork-pie
Widening the door, of this metaphor
To collapse in a web...
