Get out of this land

Is dust in your hand

Over 190,000 years
What were the odds we’d exist together
7.951 Billion People
One lifetime
What were the odds we’d meet
3.95 Billion Women
3 years in the same place
What were the odds you’d fall for me
I think about this often
How the odds were against us
But by some miraculous twist of fate
You and I exist together
We know each other
We love each other
Isn’t it a beautiful thing

I’ve Made Up My Mind
I’m falling deeper in love every day
Thinking about you when I sleep
Here in my bed I just lay
Scared and excited for the future
Always thinking of the words to say
Can’t get it wrong this round
This time I need you to stay
Don’t want to live without you again
The last time did not go our way
We tore us apart back then
This time I pray and I pray
That we can weather the storms somehow
I promise that come what may
I’ll be there to help you
This time we’ll be okay
I’ve made up my mind that I love you

If I told you the butterflies haven’t gone away,
Would you laugh in my face?
If I admitted that I’d die to keep you safe,

Because it’s warm in here
And it’s cold out there,
But don’t look into my eyes
Or you might get scared
Because the truth of what’s out there
Is hidden here
The cold of the core
And the vibes that we store
Are what reminds us that there’s a room
And more
But here in the good
God answers our prayers
And tears we don’t wipe make us glow even more
And the pain is from smiling with no chains to before

Eyes like a summer's day
I want to bask in their warmth
A smile that could make a traveller stay
I envy the one that brings it to your face
A voice that’s cool like the start of May
I love the way you say my name

This is the hardest thing to accept.
I don’t want him to show up now
With apologies and excuses.
I don’t want to start from here with him.
I don’t want him with all the terrible things he’s done.
I want to go back.
I want him to have never done it.
I want him to have loved me right.
I want him to have told me
That he’d never leave me,
To have chosen me.
I want to have been with him for three years now.

Once you’ve been in love
The birds sing for you two,
All the songs are about them,
Every love poem, book, song, and art makes sense.
Nothing is too cheesy.
Life is a warm summer's day and a dance.
It’s your favorite song, the smell of dirt, and rain, and lilacs,
It’s your favorite color, look up at the moon,
Count the stars,
You would die for them,
All your problems melt away,
Dream-like, maybe you could fly, purple-pink sky
Kind of love!
And you lose it.
You will always be searching for it again, ...

Graduation
Graduation was over,
I said what I needed to say.
High school was done forever.
I never had to go back.
I should’ve been happy,
Or maybe sad it was over.
Instead, still in cap and gown,
I sat on my bed and sobbed.
The wave of relief was overwhelming,
I survived.
The flashbacks of how horrible it was…
It was finally over.
But nothing was made right.
The hell I left behind
Was no longer mine.
It was for the next class
And the class after that.
It will continue to torture,
Kill hopes...
